HELP...13 weeks and experiencing bad pain!!
Hi all! I had surgery on Feb. 16th. I have been doing really good and down 70 pounds. I am doing cardio 6x per week and no weights yet.
Wow, For the last few days, I have had the worst pains in my abdomen, not just where the pouch is but all over. I had this about 2 weeks ago and went to the DR. he thought it could be a stress ulcer or an internal hernia. My symptoms would come and go. I decided to wait a few weeks and see if it got better before he scoped me.
I ate romaine last night, about 4 pieces, could that be it.
Also, I am only on caltrate, and flintstones. Should I be on anything else. Help me out folks. Thanks.
Craig
Not sure what the pain is, better see your doc. Better safe than sorry. If you wait, it could get worse! But you should take calcium citrate instead of the caltrate. My surgeon, nurse, PCP, and pharmacist have all told me it is the best absorbed by your body. Caltrate does not absorb good enough so you are wasting money. You need 1000-1200mg of calcium a day, so I just take 4 citrate horse pills that are 300 mg each. And then of course you need iron and you need B12 (shot once a month or sublingual once a week). You can get sublingual from any vitamin store or a script for the shots from your doc. You need 150 mg of ELEMENTAL iron per day too. Good Luck, hope you feel better soon.
Hi Craig,
I had horrible belly pains weeks 3-9. My surgeon did every test (CAT scan, MRI, endoscopy, upper GI Xray) and found nothing...except that my pouch was only big enough for 15 cc/ or 1/2 ounce! I was progressing too fast into soft foods. So I backed off, started over, and now eat 1/8 to 1/4 cup of food 6 times a day...very slowly...and feel GREAT!! I quit Flintstones after one month and now take prenatal vitamins, iron, and calcium. The medications, etc. are really different for each doctor, so check with him/her. Okay? Blessings, Rusty
