2 Months & McDonalds Hamburger OK
I am now 9 weeks post-op and I finally tried a hamburger. I tried one from Burger King and made my own at home, and both I couldn't eat had pain . Only McDonalds went down smooth. Anyone else have this? I eat Turkey and Ground Turkey and now it seems that i can't eat it at all. I am tired of the dairy food and want some food to chew. Tried to eat boiled eggs no way. I tried Carb CountdownChocolate Milk it's soy and no problem If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Try eating JUST the hamburger; not the bun, not anything else - just the hamburger.
Also - don't cook it to death.. The one I ate at home was medium rare. The more done it is, the dryer and tougher it will be and therefore the less likely (in my limited experience) that it will stay down.. That's the rule I've found and use with chicken and beef, but it doesn't apply to jerky because the slices are thin and I make VERY sure that it's very wet and also shorter fibers before I swallow it.
Some people can't tolerate beef though until almost a year out - unfortunately seems to be one of those things that varies.
I had a hamburger and 2 bites of the roll (forgot to take it out of the roll first) tonight and that stayed until I tried to eat a tomato slice with it - and actually even that stayed down, but it was DEFINITELY one-two bites TOO MUCH.. (ie: pain).
Good luck!

I had the patty from a regular McDonalds cheeseburger last week. I was really full, but didn't have a problem. We had a cookout at my sisters and she used the angus beef patties from Sams. They are really thin and I was able to eat half with the bun. I just really chewed well. I was 11 weeks out when I had them, so not much further out than you.
