Surgery was 2/17/04
Hi ya'll I just found this board and was wondering, I had my surgery on 2/17/04 and as of this morning, I have lost 42 pounds. Does this sound right to ya'll, I was thinking it was kinda slow, but not sure. Some of ya'll who had surgery around my date please let me know how you are doing with your weight loss.
Thanks in advance for any input.

It is more than I lost at your time out. I'm 11 weeks out and have lost 41 as of this morning. I suppose it depends on how much you want to loose. I read that we should loose 1/2 of our weight by 4 months, and then the remaining 1/2 up to 18 months post op. If there is truth to that, I'm sure most of us are on target.

Kim - im 8 weeks 2 days postop and have only lost 40 lbs. I say only, i know thats alot but i have been loosing it so slowly the past MONTH. I started at 270 and am at 230 now.
Anyway.. i really dont know what to do about this, but am glad you posted. Its quite frustrating isnt it!!! I want this weight gone yesterday, ya know?? Id really like to loose a total of at least 125 lbs..that would bring me to 145. but im starting to feel like thats not gonna happen.
i just hope it picks up soon!!!!
Hi there, I had my surgery the same day as you, and have lost about 46lbs, so I think we are on target..
This is not an easy task, people tell me that I have taken the easy way out and boy do I have to set them straight on that topic.
Things have definatly slowed down for me, I lose between 2 and 3 lbs a week right now, I wish I was back losing 10lbs a week, hehe
Anyway you are doing great and welcome to the board
hi kim, my surgery was the same day as you and as of Friday, I have lost 40 pounds...so don't worry. I was freaking out too for a while, till I became obessed with this site and found that it sounds like I am right on track..I eat low carb, get my protein, water (needs to improve), vitamins and excersize 45 min/5 days a week. So what else could I do? As long as you are doing all that you are supposed to--you are fine. I even feel better now that you posted and got all those responses about people with the same results as us. I was getting depressed reading about our peers that lose what seems to be 50 pounds each month and swear that they are full for hours after eating 1 ounce!!!! LOL You are doing great and so is the rest of us! If you want to try and speed it up, drink more water and eat less carbs and of course---EXERCISE
I had my Rny on 2/5/04 and am down 46 pounds. I have been working out 6 days a week (3 days with a personal trainer) and he said that since I am building muscle, I may not see a huge move on the scale, but would feel a difference in my clothes and you know what? He was right! Even though the scale seems to be a little slow, I am shrinking out of clothes left and right.
I have decided that this week I will really focus on getting in all of my fluids (haven't been so great at that) and increasing my protein. So far today, I have had about 28 ounces of fluids and about 30 grams of protein. I cannot drink shakes or eat the protein bars - I don't like them.
Good luck to everyone else out there!!!

Hi Kim...I had my surgery on 2-17-04 too. I have lost a total of 46 pounds but for the past 2 weeks I haven't lost a thing. I go back to doc on 5-10. I hope I can lose atleast the 8 pounds I expected. Whatever the case may be I'm happy for the lost and not gaining. I lost 21 pounds the first doc visit; then another 13; and then another 12. I have been able to eat just about everything I've tried. I won't go to the sweets because that's my downfall in the past. I have had a few french fries with no problem. I try to get in all my fluids and proteins. Sometimes it is hard. I have lumbar disc disease and arthritis so I can't work out like most people, but I work out in the pool atleast 5 times a week. Why I'm not losing now is a mystery. I would say that we are doing great (atleast my doc says so) I guess I'm just excited and want it to come off instantaneously. . Well sorry this is so long. Keep up the good work.
