Fast Food Restaurants
Hello Everyone!! Well I just wanted to let everyone know, my sister gave me a pair of jeans, and the seam in the back is not going sideways.......yesssssssss!!! So maybe my butt is not crooked.......
Anyways, about fast food restaurants......has anyone eaten at one of these places!? I know we shouldn't, and it's hard to admit, but I did!!! I ate at Burger King last night...after my son's baseball practice, it was 7:30 pm, and I don't like to eat after 8:00, or I should say no later than 2 hrs before I go to bed. So I still had 3 stops to make before I got home, and my kids were hungry (nagging me) and so was my husband (hungry, not nagging, he is very supportive). So we stopped (cuz everyone knows how i've been depriving my children since surgery......yeah right). I got a low carb burger and iced tea. Low carb burger, patty, cheese onion, tomato, lettuce and pickles, no sauces. I actually really liked it, I didn't eat everything though, but it was good, and I got to satisfy my kids. Any thoughts on fast food resturaunts? Or any suggestions of other places that might offer stuff like that?

Tracie,
Do any of the fast food places around you do "lean" or "extra lean" burgers? If yes, that would be a better choice as it would be less fat. If I decide to do beef (haven't tried it yet), I would go to "Habit" which only uses lean hamburger.
I did go to Tommy's (hamburger place here in CA) one day and got a plain chicken sandwich. It was chicken breast on a wheat bun (normally with sauce, lettuce, tomato etc). I just ate part of the breast and it was fine. Felt it was a healthy choice. So many fast food places offer chicken breast so that is what I would choose I think.

Luckily for me, there's not too many fast food restaurants up here - lol. But I've done the Taco Bell pintos n cheese a few times (yummy) & once I tried chicken nuggets at McDonalds (I ate almost 2). Other then that, I've managed to do pretty good with almost always having my "goodie sack" with me, that has high protein food in it (beef jerkey, nuts, protein bars, etc).

Tracie,
I think that the reality is we all will eat at fast food places sometime. I think you did the right thing by making a healthy choice from the menu. I think the low carb options have been great for WLS folks. When we go out I try to find somewhere with soup or a salad bar (yummy cottage cheese) but if we have to have fast food (kids are begging) I either just get unsweetened ice tea or some kind of chicken or fish. Captain D's makes great baked fi**** just is way too much food and it does not warm up well. I also like the pintos and cheese at Taco Bell and it is only 80 cents so it is great on different levels! I admit my family eats out a lot. My husband and I both work full time, I am a full-time graduate student and I have 2 kids that are busy with sports and church activites. Needless to say, I don't get a lot of time to cook some days.
