Depending on who asks, like my family knows I had the surgery. Others I just tell them that I am eating foods high in protein and lots of vegetables and practically no carbs. Since there are so many people on the Atkins. Because the surgery is not a solution it is a tool and your eating habits after surgery and exercise it what helps you lose weight. Alot of people get the surgery and gain it all back after a few years. I got my surgery on 02/23/04 and lost 46 lbs.

I've been very upfront and honest about my surgery. There were a couple of online forums I went to previously where I wasn't comfortable sharing at first, but I finally decided that if someone is going to be short-sighted enough to dismiss this choice (surgery) as an "easy way out," they are either misinformed - thereby needing the knowledge I can give to them - or they're just simply not worth my time.
I figure every person I tell is someone who might need the "correct" information to share with an obese loved one or to keep for themselves. I challenge ANYONE who dares to say living life after weight loss surgery is "easy."
In the end, it's your choice who you tell, of course. I just try to think that I could be giving someone the final step of courage they need to make their own change.
