Tonight I ate 5 ounces of steak!!!!!!!!! I am not over full. Do you think there is a problem? Yesterday I ate a chicken leg, 1/2 sausage, 3 sliced carrots, and a small salad for dinner. OMG...I am eating a lot all at once now. Is this happening to anyone else??? JOANNE

Joanne, I definitely can't eat that amount, but am able to eat more than I could a month ago. Today for lunch I ate 2 oz of meat and 1 slice of cucumber. Are you stopping eating when you are satisfied? I don't have the "full" feeling unless I over eat ... but find that I'm not hungry after a eating a little bit. So maybe that is the key ... try it and see if it makes a difference for you. Mary

I noticed about a week ago that I can eat more. I also can eat more in the evening. I ate a piece of salsbury steak from one of those frozen dinners the other day. I don't know how many ounces it was. It was about the size of my palm. It wasn't solid as steak, but still a lot of meat. I also had a few of the veggies and about 2 tblsp. of mashed potatoes. I haven't eaten that much before. I'm sure the chicken leg was small and I'm sure you pulled the skin off, and salad mushes down to water if you chew well. Don't fret it yet, unless it becomes an everyday occurance. Debbie -38

Joanne, I had the same "OMG" experience with this too. I think that in the beginning, the pouch is so small that it does stretch a little. What I do to help with this is I portion my food on a small plate (I actually use one of my daughter's plates) and when I finish that, I wash the dish right away so that I don't eat any more. Then I walk away from the table (and I am usually the last one up anyway) and do something else. Also, a friend that had her surgery in July told me that if she eats really slow, she can eat almost a regular size portion - like at a restaurant. Not sure if this helps, but just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one. Have a great day!! Barb

But how long did it take you to eat all that? Some days, I can eat more than others, I've not been able to eat what you described in one sitting. However, I watch the clock and listen to the tummy. It gets "full" in about 15 minutes, so I tend to stop eating at 15 minutes, and wait 5 minutes to see if I want anything more. Usually, I don't. But overall, yes, I can eat waaay more than I could a month ago, and I am about 10 weeks out. My surgery was 2/3.

Joanne - I've been worrying about this same thing lately! I've found in the past week or so that I can eat a good deal more than I could before. It makes it more difficult to stop myself. Plus, I'm snacking more than I should be. Chips and crackers and stuff are easy to snack on because they basically go right on through! These are problems I honestly didn't expect after surgery. I had hoped I'd be one of the lucky ones who didn't "want" much food anymore, couldn't eat but a little bit at a time (for a long time), and never got hungry. Well, that dream didn't happen!! I am still losing weight. I've found I might go a week with no loss then drop 5 lbs the next week. I try not to get too worried or discouraged, but it is difficult. My advice would be to portion your food carefully and pay VERY close attention to what your body is telling you. Eat to "satisfied" not to "full." (That's my advice to myself, too! ) I'm 9 weeks out and down 50 pounds, so something must be working!
