What protein bars are you eating?
I tried a chocolate peanut butter protein bar recently and i couldnt tolerate it, i immediatley dumped. I have read some of you mentioning prtein bars for lunch or a snack... id LOVE to hear what is working for you.. what brand, what flavor, etc..
thanks in advance! hopefully i can get some ideas so i can try these again!!
Be careful with protein bars, many of them are definitely NOT low sugar. I eat a U-Turn bar for breakfast each morning. It comes in 2 sizes and I use the smaller one that is 15 grams of protein. When I was pre-op I use to it the larger one (30 grams of protein) for breakfast. The manufacturer makes 4 bars:
DeTour - similar to a snickers
U-Turn - similar to a milky way
One Way - similar to Reeses (nah, I don't think so ... LOL)
JoyRide - similar to almond joy. I love this bar too, great coconut taste. However my surgeon says no coconut as a post-op, so haven't eaten any.
Trader Joes, Wahlgreens carry the small version of this bar or you can buy the large ones and cut them in half. I keep mine in the refrigerator and grab when needed.
Another thing to watch with the protein bars is sugar alcohols. Some of them are loaded with them and that can cause a laxative effect in many of us.
Hope you find a bar that works for you.

Well, I tried one a couple of weeks ago Slim Whey (peanut bar) . . . & I could've sworn it was a butterfinger!!! I even had to write the company to tell them how great I thought it was It has 9g protein, 4g fat, 2 sugars, 120 cal, 2 net carbs. It's pretty small too.
The other one that I tried & liked was Genisoy Low Carb Crunch Bar - it has 15g protein, 6g fat, 0 sugars, 160 calories, & 18 carbs. I have been eating this one every morning for breakfast. It's larger - but if I pace myself, I can eat the whole thing.
I found the Slim Whey at my local Fred Meyer's (but you can also get them at SusanMaria's bariatriceating.com) & the Low Carb Crunch I got at GNC. But like Mary said . . . watch the sugars & the sugar alcohols. Good Luck!
