hi everyone, today was a bad day today for me. I started off alright but after I went food shopping my eating just went down hill. I ate a good lunch...some ground turkey with pasta and alfredo sauce (not a lot; 2oz of each+sauce) and then all I wanted was ice cream! I ate some and then I ate peanut butter. And then I ate dinner and then pudding! I just feel like I ate too much today and I havent done this since before surgery! I am finally able to realize how much I HATE FEELING LIKE THIS!!! I know this surgery isnt going to fix this and I dont want it to but when that ugly feeling is just sitting inside you its just so hard! Its no where near as much as it was before so thats a positive...I guess I just needed to vent!!!! sarah

Hi Sarah: We all have those days. The food cravings for me seem to get worse as I get further out. But, don't be so hard on yourself. Just start right now on the path you want to be on . It probably isn't as bad as you think. I'll bet the quantities were really small. Think of what you used to eat. WOW!! Anyway you compare it you've made huge acomplishments. Focus on your success' and you'll feel better. I hope tommorow is a better day for you. Eileen

Sarah, As a pre-op, I found that if I did high carb foods (like pasta, rice, bread, or potatoes) that I could crave things all day long. However if I did low carb/high protein, I stayed satisfied. Do you think the pasta could of triggered the eating? I keep low carb ice cream bars in the house. Since I am pretty sensitive to sugar alcohols, I wouldn't eat more than one. I do like the taste of the bars. Certain things I do not keep in the house like chips (even low carb ones) as they are trigger food for me. The low carb ice cream works great for me. I guess each of us needs to find what works for us and help us along the way. Did you run the totals thru fitday.com? You may be surprised that you didn't eat as much as you thought you did. Hope tomorrow is better. Mary

((Sarah)) i have read that if you are really craving something, have a bite! Dont go overboard, but dont deny yourself something you really want. As long as its not unreasonable or too much, you should be alright. Aso, i have discovered that I wasnt getting enough calories to loose weight. I was on a plateau for over 2 weeks, upped my calories, and now im loosing again. Maybe your body needs more calories than you're getting in and this is its way of telling you. Just a suggestion! ;) Oh, ive read that if youre feeling hungry, go for protein food/drink. If you can tolerate it and want something sweet - try a chocolate peanut butter protein bar. The one i tasted was incredible, but i didnt tolerate it too well LOL. Anyway... dont beat yourself up. I thought i did horribly Sunday and thats what kicked up my weight loss again!!
