I NEED HELP!
I think I am eating too much. Please someone, when you read this, let me know if it is too much for my time out.
Breakfast is usually double protein shake OR egg salad made with 1 boiled egg, teaspoon low fat mayo, teaspoon each of dill relish and mustard OR 2 slices of thick bacon.
Lunch is usually either the egg salad as above OR 3 oz of ham wrapped with 1 slice of cheese and one dill pickle OR 1/3 cup of chili
Dinner is usually 3-4 oz of meat with 1-2 spoons of a veggie.
I drink sf koolaid in between. If I have a snack it is low carb, sugar free ice cream bar OR 2 pieces of sf chocolate candy.
I am 2 months, 5 days out. My surgery was on feb 6th.

I eat that or more, and not as many good choices on the sugar. I really over did it yesterday on the peanut M&M's. I felt drunk the rest of the day.
I ate a whole toasted tuna sandwhich last night. I used the thin bread and they are smaller in size than regular sandwhich bread, but I was amazed that I ate a whole sandwhich, minus the edges. I just can hold more at night. I think my pouch relaxes as the day goes on, and then it is back to not eating much in the mornings.
I had a piece of smoked sausage this morning about 1" long, now I am drinking a protien drink. I'll probably do 1/2 cup of tuna with a few wheat thins for lunch, and I imagine some nuts, peanut butter or cheese for snack sometime during the day.

I have done well on my choices of food. But I didn't think that would be my downfall anyhow. I KNOW my downfall will be portion control. That is why I am so scared of eating too much. I ate pretty healthy pre-op. Just way too much of it!
I just hate when others at 5-6 months out eat only 2 ounces at a time and I am eating double that at 2 months out!
Have you tried the low carb breads or the low carb pitas? I have not had any breads at all until yesterday with the 1/4 low carb pita. That was the first time. I know it is the starches that are my weakness so they scare me too. I am just afraid that if I start eating them, they will be my downfall. I didn't get fat from sweets. The carbs did it, the carbs did it!!!!!

My problem before surgery was portion control too. I ate like a linebacker. I had a tremdous appetite.
I have not tried any of the low carb bread. I just buy the thin sunbeam for my family. I don't eat bread very often, although it is my weakness.
I didn't get fat from sweets either. I could eat 3 or 4 pieces of Texas toast with my steak supper or spaghetti. I like that I have a tool to contraol how much I can eat.
I mentioned that I would eat a 1/2 cup of tuna for lunch, but I'm really not sure what I'll eat. I haven't been one to measure my food. I guess I should. I think I over estimate. The only time I measured was when I first came home from the hospital and they gave me those medicine cups to measure my liquids and broth. I have just used commons sense since then.
I posted last week that I seemed to be able to eat more all of the sudden. It was kind of like week five, when I could drink water with out all the pain. We are still so new post op, that everyday is an adventure.

Each person is individual; that's what makes this so hard in a lot of respects.
What may be your "too much" would be WAYY too much for someone else.
The general guide for most people "this early out" is the pressure that eating "too much" or "too fast" entails, and the results of what you have to do to get rid of the pressure
I have friends who are 6-9 months out that still eat like birds, and have another friend who is 4 months out that eats a McDonalds hamburger and a few fries for a meal.. and all are still losing weight.
It would be sooo nice if there was a "cookie cutter"/one size fits all guide that would say "you should eat exactly X much"... unfortunately there isn't.. The biggest guides to what is too much will be the pressure from overeating, and ultimately (over the course of a 3-4 week period because of those darn stalls), the scale....
And again, if the scale doesn't move for 3-4 weeks, that isn't necessarily a reason to panic.. And like Tracie mentioned, if you don't eat, your body will decide that you are starving it, and THAT will force a stall too!!! So you have to keep on eating, as BACKWARDS as that seems
It really does sound like you are doing great - keep up the good work!!!

Wow..I envy you Joanne. I am 8 weeks out today (2 months) and I am still on Full Liquids I can eat soft stuff like Oatmeal & Cream of Wheat but it cannot be too thick or I will So I don't know if your eating too much food or not. Is your weight loss steady? If so then I wouldn't concern myself to much about it because the body does need food for fuel. You can also go to http://www.fitday.com to calculate what you food intake is per day. A lot of post-ops swear by it. Hopes this helps you.
