I had my surgery on Feb 11, 2004. I have been able to eat anything and not get sick. I really don't get the full feeling. I think sometimes I stop before I get full. I ate pizza the other day and had no problems. Granted I didn't eat what I normally do. 1/2 slice. I can take bits of things with sugar in it and don't get sick. Is anyone else like this. I get scared thinking I will be one that gains the weight back. My weight is coming off slow. I have lost 31 pounds since my surgery. I have been reading other post and see that people are losing alot faster. I just found out a friends mom had it done 2 years ago and has gained all her weight back plus more. Which scares me. I just found out I need to have my gallbladder out on April 23. Yippe another surgery. Thanks Tina

Hey Tina.......it's gonna be ok!!! If you just read my post, I was worried because 2 days ago, I ate a whole junior deluxe. (I ate 1/2 then the other 1/2 about 1 1/2 hrs later) Scared the Hell out of ME!!!!! Nothing has made me sick either. Not sugar, not milk, not anything....ok, chicken breast got stuck!!! But I didn't get sick....and 1/2 slice pizza is not to much.....I can eat pizza ok too!!! I have had times feeling the same way as you!! But the weight is coming off isn't it!!! I believe if you eat small portions, and stay that way, you'll be fine.....really!!! My doctor says, I should eventually be able to eat 1 slice of pizza, as opposed to the 3 or 4 slice prior to surgery.......like I said, 1/2 is not bad.........maybe you shouldn't have pizza all the time, but that is in any persons diet......surgery or non-surgery.........make sense???? Please don't stress......We all know what stress can do. Tracie Surgery 2/3/04 -51 lbs.

I too can eat *anything* and not get sick. Milk gives me problems because I was lactose intolerant prior to surgery. I haven't eaten the crust off the pizza, but give me the toppings. As far as your friends mom, I wonder if her stomach was transected or just a staple line. She may have gotten use of her old stomach. I know people can gain weight by grazing and eating around their pouch, but I can't see gaining it all back, if we follow the rules. My SIL eats everything, of course it is limited amounts. She doesn't care for meat, and usually goes for carbs first. She has lost the weight, and continues to loose beyond her goal. It is a big waiting game for all of us... Sigh... keep working it. I ate an entire slice the other day... thin crust though, not the bready type.... You guys worry too much, if you want to track what you eat on a day to day basis, goto FitDay.com. I am averaging 600 calories a day and about 50 grams of protien. There is no way you'll get all your protein in this soon, your stomach isn't big enough. I did have several meals last weekend with a Post op who is 4-5 yrs post op and she eats half what is on her plate (we ate at restaurants all weekend) and she eats 4 times a day. She was 300+ and she's 120's now. We both had the Distal RNY
