Amanda, everything you said is so true, and I would never have lost even this amount alone. I would have been bored, and would be baking cakes, or eating mexican food for lunch and pizza for dinner. I need to up my execise, protien and water as you have. I promise to come back and update on every lb. I loose. You will be sick of me, Debbie -33.5

Hi Debbie: I had my surgery on 2/3/04 and I was 216 on surgery day. You and I have a close surgery date. I was really lucky in the begining and lost alot in the first 3 weeks. My losses have slowed down to about 2 pds a week and I really excersize. My surgeon says that 2 pds is great for my size. Are you short? I'm only 5'1" and I find it frustrating to read that people who are in the 200+ range fitting into size 18. I'm really excited for them but at 200 I wore a size 24-26. If your short you won't see the clothing changes as quickly. At least we have alot less time to get to goal. I had a 2 week period where I actually gained a pound. I also had an 8 day period where I didn't loose anything. I have a colleage who had the surgery over a year ago and she has just continued to loose a pound a week. It just keeps comming off. So, the upshot is, that it will happen if we do what are surgeons tell us to do. Keep burning the excess! I can't wait to hear about every pound you loose!! They all count. Eileen

Who me short? No, I'm a lot taller than you.... he he he 5'3" LOL Yes the clothing thing is frustrating. I was wearing 22's and I suppose I had them stretched to the bursting point. I remember lying on the bed to zip my jeans and they had elastic all around the waist. Now 20's are too big and I really don't have any 18 jeans. I think I'll just wear my 20's too baggy until I'm in 16's. I did buy some size 18 (in the regular dept) not an 18W capri's and I can wear them, but I will feel more comfortable in them, after another 2 to 3lb loss. My tops have gotten really baggy. I was buying 2X so that it wouldn't cling to my big belly, and they were really too big for my shoulders. They look like moo moos now. The 1X's are really too baggy, but XL is more snug than I like to wear my clothes. I don't like any outlines showing. I like them roomy. I have a friend that is one inch taller than me and started out at 297 and is wearing a size 18. I believe they have elastic in the waist. She has lost 52lbs. She had surgery 1 day before me. I believe she had distal. That might make a difference too. I'm happy for her, but wish I'd move on down some. Thanks for replying, Debbie -33.5

No, you are not the only one, lol. I had lost 31 lbs my first 5 weeks (from 252) and then I didn't lose anything, I even gained 4-5 lbs in the past two weeks but this week it all came off, I have been losing a pound a day so I'm back to the 31 lbs mark. I still have not had my monthly cycle since 2/1 and I had surgery 2/16. My GB Counselor told me it goes that way, some people lose fast some slow but we all lose eventually. I actually prefer to have it slower...maybe less chance of that sagging tummy skin.

you are doing great! Everyone goes through plateaus where you don't lose and then all of a sudden you drop the weight again. Just keep this in the back of your head, you didn't put the weight on overnight so you won't lose it overnight. Just keep doing what you are suppose to and you will lose the weight. MY doctor told me to make sure that I eat lots of protein because it is what helps burn the fat. Lots of luck. Cammy -45lbs

Dear Debbie, I thought it was just ME! I am 7 almost 7 weeks out and I too am short 5'2". I have lost about 31 lbs and have been so depressed. I wasnted it to just melt away like I had heard everyone else do. I have tried to stay away from the scale but it is an obssesion. I HAVE to weigh and when it doesn't move I get so down. I have tried to get in all the protein but no matter what I try it makes me queasy. I have tried the milky ones (I am one who has ended up lactose intolerant) ad\nd the fruity ones make me just as sick. I'm SO tired of being queasy. But, I can start exercising again tomorrow so that should help. You are doing great! Noelle
