Am I the only one frustrated by this whole thing???
I'm 9 weeks post op today, and I have been holding this wieght for over 8 days. I am totally frustrated. I thought the weight would come off quicker than this. I try to be positive and I try to uplift other members just as they do me, but when you get on the scale and it doesn't budge... it is very depressing. I know we use that word lightly around here, but when you put your bodies what we did, we expect so much more. I hope there are a lot of people who are at goal that were slow loosers like me.

THings seem to be moving a lot slower for me as well, It is kind of depressing, a lot of people with feb dates have lost 40, 50, 60 and more and I congradulate them with all my heart, Its just that I can relate, as I have lost 37 lbs since my lap RNY on 2/17/2004.
I was hoping to have lost a lot more. I wish I could suggest somthing to help you out, however my weight is not coming off very fast either. ever get the feeling that you are just spinning your weels?? Good luck!
Leeanne,
I am glad for the 33.5. It really is the most I have ever lost, with the exception of my pregnancies. It is disheartening to have my peers loose more quickly than I am, but I have to realize that I started out at a lower weight. I've read all the success stories, but I'm like all of you that replied. I can't hardly believe it will happen to me, and why the heck did I have this surgery that altered my insides and may make it impossible to get health/life insurance if something ever happens to my husbands job, or even him. I guess we will have to keep coming back here and support one another.
Thanks,
Debbie -33.5
Nope you are not the only one. As I lurk the boards and other online groups I hear varying degrees of 'success' i.e. comparatively rapid weight loss. However, what I try to remain focused on is what I am doing....I'm exercising, losing inches and exceeding daily living expectations that I couldn't almost 2 months ago....like sleeping on my stomach, getting out of bed without my husband's help, walking without getting out of breath, saving money because I am not constantly snacking/eating, wearing shoes that I couldn't, fitting in seats/chairs....So yeah I ain't lost 40, 50 or 60 lbs but I know that it will come when it comes.
Stop weighing yourself so often (1/wk or 1/mo is enough, measure, measure, measure your decreasing inches) and know that your body moves at it's own speed...and remember generally 'slow' losers have less of an excess skin issue than most of the rapid losers or so my doc tells me
Thanks Michelle,
I have started walking on the treadmill and plan to incorporate some strength training as well. I am loosing inches, so it all isn't a big waste of time.
I already am seeing skin issues at 33.5 loss. I'm nearly 44 and have had five children. I see the skin starting to wrinkle...

Debbie,
I'm 6 weeks out and down 23 lbs. I have had 2 times of 7 to 9 days of no weight loss, but then it kicks back in.
I try to put it into perspective (yes, I wanted the weight to melt away the first few months like others say is happening to them):
Well it took me almost a year to lose 50 lbs as a pre-op, and it has only taken me 6 weeks to lose 23 lbs which is almost 1/2 of 50. So that makes me feel better and realize that I am really doing well. My doctor says I'm right on track and to expect 8 lbs a month from here on out.
So slow loser or not, at least I am losing. I'm totally off blood pressure meds and feel GREAT. I'm walking every day and hope to be released soon to ride my bike and use the pool.
Mary
I am also a SLOW LOSER, but the Doc says that's a good thing i have lost 10 lbs in a month, all together since i first saw him in Sept. TOTAL 30 lbs. (my scale is 4 more lbs lost since Mon.)
he said any more than that & it would be a problem, i guess loosing too fast is not good either... But i know what your saying people with Feb dates r already 40-50 lbs gone !!!!!!! But u have to ALWAYS REMEMBER it's weight lost not GAINED !!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK to ALL of us !!!!!! Deb
Thanks Deb from another Debbie (or Deb as my hubby calls me) I looked at your profile, but didn't see your height. Are you short like I am? 5'3" here. Well with being a lightweight, I will be half way to goal when I loose 50lbs. where as my counterparts that I have been comparing myself to, won't even be out of the 200's, so that is something to praise.
I'm so glad I have somewhere to say what I feel and get back decent responses.
Hugs,

I can soooo relate Debbie! It has been consuming me! I go on the messageboards, I talk to other post ops locally, I talk to my family & all they tell me is "don't worry - it'll happen". How do they know?
I am almost 7 weeks & down 24lbs. I have been getting in around anywhere from 80-100 grams of protein a day, all my water (& then some), & I have been walking 3 times a week. I was even a vegetarian for 11 years before surgery . . . & I STARTED EATING MEAT - FOR PETE'S SAKE - just so that I was doing everything "by the book".
I know that all these people keep saying "when have you ever lost like that before?" & "that's 24lbs that will never come back" - but so the heck what!?!! I didn't have this surgery to only loose like 50 lbs! That is my greatest fear! I don't expect perfection - but I do expect something for doing something so drastic to myself for THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!!!
I suppose what I would like, is just to know that it all will come off. I mean, I really don't care how long it takes - as long as I know it will happen.
Ok, that was my rant for the day . . . I'm so sorry that I had to do it here - but I just want you to know Debbie - that you are not alone in this at all! I don't know about you - but it sure helps me! I wish you all the best
Amanda
P.S. Please keep me updated on your progress!
