Hi, Had surgery 2-4-04 and things have been good until two weeks ago. Nausea and vomiting all the time. saw the surgeon to day and he wants a swallow study and upper GI x-ray and a visit to the GI pyhsican for a EGD. He thinks it may be a stricture. Any oneout there have one? . i have only lost 35lbs since surgery. I can't seem to eat so why haven't i lost more?? thanks for listening. Kate

Kate, Hope they find the solution to your problem soon. When we eat low calorie our body sees it as starvation and goes into a much slower metabolism mode. I'm down 18 lbs in 5 weeks and was told that I was right on track. I think you are doing well with the 35 lbs. Exercise can boost the metabolism up as can higher protein etc. Wishing you the best. I hope all turns out well with the swallow study. 35 pds is great! I had my surgery the day before yours and I'm down 40 pds. I bike 8 miles a day and walk 4 miles a day. Everyone is different in their weight loss journey. Focus on you, that's like 4 pounds a week. WOW Your doing a great job! Give yourself credit! Eileen

Good going on the weight loss, but the 8 miles on the bike is what is awesome! Girl, I need some motivation from you. You must be a whole heck of a lot younger than me. Debbie -32

I hope all goes well. I think I have gotten to relaxed in my recovery. I had surgery the day after yours and thought I was out of the woods. I guess I'm not. Good job on the weight loss. Looks like we are very close. Debbie -32

Hi there, Sometimes this surgery seems to be so mystical. Being that each individual has his/her own experiences, it is rare that anyone is the same or experiences the same things. I am almost 6 weeks out and am down 30 pounds. This past week is the first time I have ever dumped. I really freaked out because I have been able to eat/drink just about anything. I am wise in my food choices and I only try to eat things with protein in them. But lately I am not sure if it is what I am eating or if I am less afraid of eating and I am not paying attention as well as I did in the beginning about chewing, chewing, chewing. When you think about it ... has anyone else experienced this? Like watching TV and eating or working while you eat lunch, You are not totally concentrating on eating and may go back to bad habits of not chewing as well or drinking while eating? I have not started excercising any as of yet. I just have not had the time. My schedule is a very busy one and I commute a far distance for work. I am happy with my weightloss so far. BTW, how do you all post your pictures? Thanks, Robin Lap RnY 02/18/04 252~222~120

Robin, it's surprising to me how much of a ha*****ewing has become for me. I have an occasional "almost" lapse when it comes to eating too quickly or drinking something while eating. Luckily, I've caught myself before I've done those things. I've not had the displeasure of dumping yet, but I haven't really tried anything with sugar in it, either. I'm afraid!!! Jules
