Baggy pants

I am 6 weeks post op today and I am down 43lbs. I had lost 40 before the surgery so that's 75lbs in a year( do to the adoption of five children). All my clothes are soooo baggy that my kids call me a clown. I refuse to run out and buy all new clothes when I don't see the weight loss. I did buy a new slimming gown for an event this past weekend and everyone was floored because they were used to seeing me in the baggy stuff. I'm down from a size 30 to a 22. I can write out the figures but it still does not mean to me that I've lost any weight. I feel great, but still I don't see myself any skinnier. How do I overcome the fear that I will gain the weight back and not need the smaller clothes anymore? Help I go to Disney with my kids next week, I would like to buy new clothes but am scared to death.

Part of the reason "we" (yep, me too) don't see the weight loss is because we are wearing clothes that are too big. I finally starting wearing a few blouses that are smaller and WOW what a difference. Why not go to Kohls, Walmart, Target and get a couple pairs of pants and some blouses. You will feel so much better and will start to visualize the changes too. If you need too, just buy 1 pair of slacks and a blouse. Even one outfit would make a difference. You are doing GREAT. Congratulations. Mary

Hi Susan: Mary is right. Treat yourself to something. About every three weeks I take an extra hour while I'm mall walking and go into a store and try something on. It's hard to see the loss when everything is big. When you can afford to, get rid of those big clothes it will give you lots of incentive to succeed. They say that keeping the large clothes will give you an excuse to gain weight. I'm not sure I belive that but that's what weigh****chers said when I used to diet through them. Congratulations!! Have fun in Disney, you'll walk a few more pounds off there. Eileen

I understand where you are coming from. My clothes are really baggy too. I have a friend who works with me and had the surgery as well. She suggested I go to some thrift stores and get some clothes. She has saved alot of money that way and looks great. She has gotten some beautiful outfits for like $5.00. Then when you reach your goal weight you can buy clothes in the regular stores. Just a suggestion. Laurie
