I thought I'd post here, everythings a little crazy on the main board. I don't know what exactly happened, to be honest, I wish I did, they all have me totally confused. I'm doing ok, I've started to advance to solids and I am tolerating them very well. I have had a horrible chest cold for 2 weeks and the coughing is REALLY hurting my stomach. No help from my surgeons office though, the nurse told me just to take something over the counter or call my family doctor. So.. I sit here wondering if I should be worried about pneumonia or the incision coming apart. It seems every time I call the surgeons office I get blown off. Oh well, maybe I'll call my family doctor. But I have to wonder, what does he know about gastric bypass???? I hope the rest of you are doing well, please let me know how things are going.

Good morning! If you are coming down with a cold and it wouldn't go away, I would call your PCP and see if they can take a look at you. They should be able to prescribe something if necessary, or give you ideas about anything you can take OTC. Hope you feel better soon. ~gretchen~

Definitely call your regular doctor about the cold. You may need antibiotics and/or a cough surpressant. Sure hope you feel better soon. I'm doing well at 4 weeks out. 18 lbs down so far. Feeling really good and have felt this way since I came home from the hospital. (had open RNY) and can't believe how quickly I bounced back. Now at the pureed food stage after 3 1/2 weeks on liquids. Walking every day too. Mary

I had a cold with sneezing and coughing, but nothing really bad. It HURT horribly. Since then I developed a sore throat with a head cold. I called my PCP and told him I the surgery I had and he prescribed antiobiotics in liquid form. They just taste awful. I'm about 6 weeks out and lost over 30 pounds. I can't believe this. I'm eating what I'm suppose to and returned to work at four weeks. I'm so glad I had the surgery. I feel better everyday!!! Kathy Kratzenberg
