Almost 4 weeks post-op and.....

I am almost a whole month post-op and now I am starting to have some issues. I was supposed to start on soft foods last Thursday and I did and I did fine but starting yesterday everything is getting "stuck" no matter how much I chew or how long I wait in between bites the food is getting stuck and I have to throw up in order to get any relief. Has this happened to anyone else?

I have had a stricture and if everything even soft foods are getting stuck, call your doctor. it was toot he point with me that liquids were getting stuck. it was closed to 3mm. Are liquids having a hard time going down? What about soft foods? Joanne

Hi Vida: I'm 7 weeks out and I still have problems with things getting stuck. I lose my dinner about once every three days. I talked to my surgeon about it and she said everything was fine and that sometimes it just happens. It even happens with food that I have been eating regularly without a problem and then bam, I get sick from it. When that happens I back off and go on liquids and very soft foods for a day. That seem to help. It does seem to be getting a little better with time. Make sure you talk to your surgeon about it to be sure that nothing is wrong. The more new foods you try the more it may happen. I imagine that this honeymoon period is really not a honeymoon. Good Luck, Eileen
