I had my six week check up with my surgeon and she has given me the all clear no more food or excersize restrictions! I'm so excited to do something other than mall walking. I'm actually looking forward to getting on my excersize bike tommorrow. I talked to her about low energy and a problem getting all of my protein in. She suggested protein bars or drinks. Can anyone share with my types of protein drinks that are good? I went to the grocery store today and they all seemed to have sugar in them. I also went back to work full time today. It was alot harder than I thought. By 2:00 p.m. I was so tired I started loosing my voice. I walk almost 2 hours a day now so I thought it wouldn't be a problem. I can't imagine a whole week. Oh, she also recommended drinking Sugar Free Red Bull. I bought some and it looks like its full of Vitamin B12. Anyone, tried this yet? Eileen

My favorite protein powder is Unjury, available online from www.unjury.com It is 20 gm protein, 0 fat, 3 carbs per 8 oz serving. I mix it with skim milk and it tastes like chocolate milk. It does not get thick like some do. If you like the thick texture, carb solutions protein powder is not bad. I can find it at Walmart. Good luck! Joy

Eileen, That is fantastic news!!!! I'm so happy for you. Here are some of the protein powders I use/like: ProComplex --- easy to mix, taste great, super high protein 55 grams when you use 2 scoops as recommended. I mix it with water and 1 scoop at this point. Milk consistency. Apple Nectar --- mixes easily with a spoon and water. It tastes like apple juice and is the same consistency. Warning: it is bright green!!!! MetRx (Butter Pecan flavor) --- I like this mixed with water and frozen berries added in (about 1/3 cup). I mix it in a blender. It comes out thick like a milkshake and is very good. I used mixed berries (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries) that are flash frozen and no sugar added. Ready made protein: World Wide Pure Protein ---- rich, creamy ... a little thicker than milk. Comes in chocolate, vanilla, banana, and caramel. The chocolate has a bite to it, I won't buy it again. I really like the banana and the caramel. So nice to have it ready made. Bars: I absolutely love the U-Turn and the JoyRide bars. Two others that are good are DeTour and OneWay. I used them as a pre-op to help me lose the 50 lbs ahead of surgery. Then I use the large bars (30 grams of protein), but now would only eat half or buy the smaller bars. Hope this helps. Mary

You are very welcome. Here are the ones recommended by UCLA: Isopure 50 grams of protein per serving/200 calories Myoplex 42/280 Procomplex 55/260 Genisoy 25/100 Met Rx (packet with 16 oz water) 37/250 Soy protein powder, 1 ounce 20/110 I know GNC and Vitamin Shoppe will allow you to return a protein powder if you honestly don't like it and have the receipt. Vitamin Shoppe told me they would exchange only a couple of times tho as they have to dump the product if returned. Have fun shopping. Mary

I always use Unjury (www.unjury.com). It really DOES taste like chocolate milk so it's easy to get down. I've tried about 100 protein bars and they're all nasty. I get the majority of my protein now (almost 6 weeks out) from shrimp, tuna, crab, cheese, etc. Julie
