It's been 4 weeks and, I still have pain on my right side.
Betty, I sure hope the pain subsides soon for you. I think a lot of our aches and pains are a result of the surgery of course, but others a result of moving differently when getting in and our bed, sitting etc as we are healing. Sometimes we strain other muscles as a result.
Will the surgeon allow you to use a heating pad or jacuzzi (spa)? The heat from them may be of benefit. However, don't use them without his OK.

I'm going on 6 weeks post op and I still have intermittent pain on my left side. I think it's gas, and the surgeon agrees, since it's intermittent and it will move, in time. But at 4 weeks, I couldn't even think about laying on my left side, and it hurt if I did any exercise. I think it was a remnant of surgery.
Hi Betty, I'm sorry to hear that you are still having a lot of pain, but I think that it still might be from your surgery. I had open RNY on the 19th of Feb and I am still uncomfortable when I bend over or twist from side to side. At 4 weeks out your insides are still kind of swollen from the surgery and that might be why you are experiencing the pain. When do you see your surgeon again? I'd jot down the times you experience the pain, the intensity (scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst pain) and what you were doing at the time you experienced the pain and then when you see your surgeon next time discuss it with him....
Take care
