4 weeks post op

Hi guys! I'm four weeks post-op and have lost 23 pounds. Up until tonight I was having problems keeping my dinner down. Breakfast and lunch were fine but, no matter what, dinner just wouldn't stay down. I figured out the problem was that my hubby and I always eat dinner in our bedroom on tv trays in our lap leaning up against the headboard. I guess I was squishing my new pouch because as soon as I ate, it came right back up. Tonight I sat in the living room and at off of a tv tray so I was sitting straight up and guess what? My dinner stayed down. I am so glad because I was getting really depressed. I was sort of disappointed that my weight is coming off what I would consider slow -- looking at some of the other posts. But, I guess it coming off slower means that I'll have less chance of the bat wings, droopy thighs and apron. One complaint is that I hate the Flintstones vitamins that my doctor wants me to take. Has anybody tried an adult vitamin or a liquid vitamin that is not too nasty? My tastes have changed since this surgery.

Nicki, what a relief I'm sure for you to discover what was causing the problems with eating at night. I'm so glad it was an easy solution for you. I can't stand Flinstone vitamins at all. My doctor OK Andrew Lessman's vitamins (capsules). They can be opened and mixed into food or put in whole in a blender when mixing a protein drink. They are great vitamins with no fillers in them. He sells thru the Home Shopping Network (HSN) and also his own website: yourvitamins.com I have used his vitamins for years because I'm allergic to the fillers in most vitamins. These have been a blessing to find and use. Both my surgeon and my nutritionist gave the OK on using them. When added to food they have no real taste. I'm two weeks out and down about 11.5 lbs (total of 61.5 since last year). I think I'm losing slower too, but try not to focus on that. The important thing is that I'm losing and feeling good. Since I'm on total liquids I thought the weight loss would be quicker. You are right tho, that when you lose slower and "exercise" you give your muscles time to build up and help prevent sagging skin. If you don't exercise, it definitely will be saggy. Mary

Mary: Thanks for the info on the vitamins. I'll check with my doctor and see if he will okay those. My doctor let me move to solids two weeks out because I wasn't having any problems at all. I read everyone's post on here about all the problems they've had and I feel so fortunate. I'll admit the first couple of weeks I thought, what the heck have I done and wondered if I couldn't have really lost the weight with more willpower. But, I know the answer to that. I just wish that my head would quit thinking about food. I have another problem I'm wondering if you have. My stomach never growls until I start eating and then it goes bonkers. What's the deal with that? Does yours do that? Nicki

Nicki, I've always been able to lose weight (if I worked really hard at it) and at one point lost 90 lbs HOWEVER I never could keep it off. Also I knew since I had been obese my whole life that the odds weren't in my favor. Yes, I feel very blessed too that I haven't had any problems either. I have really felt good even with having it done open. My incision is healing beautifully. I'm still on full liquids for a month (2 more weeks to go). The first week my stomach rumbled a lot. Now it does it on and off. I think it is just the stomach and intestional tract healing and it is rumbling because it now has to work to process the food. Not really sure, but from what I have read it is very common. Mary
