Hi all! I am 3 weeks post op today and feel pretty darn good with the exception of one thing. GAS!!!!!!! My husband has heard me toot more these three weeks than he ever heard in almost 15 years. I was able to get away with silent, odorless poofers for years but now...Oh No! I am ripping em out left and right. I can't hold them in because it hurts too much to do so and sometimes I have no choice but to let er rip because I cant make it into the bathroom. I'm the person you dont want to be in the same aisle with in a grocery store! LOL! I am really embarrassed to even ask but I had to get it out of my system. (Pun intended!) Anyone else have this problem?

Sandy - Not all that uncommon Of course, I was diabetic and on metformin before, so my wife had to deal with much worse for me before than she does now... I do know the more distal the procedure, the more gas & other GI effects that happen... also could possibly be a touch of lactose intolerance, which again, isn't all that uncommon... Or could just be the rerouting of things & the digestion later in the process Again, not totally sure why - could be any one of a number of things, but you're not alone in this happening (although you could be alone after passing gas

Oooh, Sandy... I am laughing so hard that I spit up my protein supplement! I have to print out your posting and show it to my husband because he is convinced that I am a gas factory! I "tooted" so much in the hospital that the people in adjoining rooms could hear me! LOL! So, to answer your question, yes, I am extremely gassy! ~Lynn

Sandy, It is completely normal. Trust me I am full of farts and I am back at work. I have turned the music up and lit a few candles. I think the first gas I passed after surgery was one of the best feeling i had in a while.

Well I'm glad to know that I am not the only one having a rootin-tootin good time! My nine year old going on twenty-five loves to tell me.."Mom, you've got your motor running again!" Anyone know if this is a lifetime thing or just a temporary adjustment?

Hi Sandy, I am having the same problem...The reason mine is happening is because I am taking iron...Ever since I started taking it oh boy do I stink...I ran my husband out the bedroom one night...Little did he realize I was paying him back..LOL...Anyway I just wanted to let you know if you are taking iron that may be the reason....Good luck!!!!
