Besides weight loss, what positives have happened to you?
We always talk about how much weight we have lost, but I know that each of us have had other positives happen since Weight Loss Surgery this last month.
Things like being able to walk further, breathe easier, tie our shoes etc. You know things that make us smile.
I'm two weeks out almost and yesterday went to my primary care doctor. I'm been on blood pressure meds for years. A few months ago (pre-surgery) I was able to drop one of my blood pressure meds when I lost about 40 lbs. Yesterday, she told me I could drop the last one now. I am so excited. I no longer take any daily meds!!!! This is a major achievement for me and one of my goals in having this surgery.
My next goal is to lose enough weight that I don't need the CPAP machine. I know this is not a guarantee as some people need it no matter what size they are. My doctor told me when I had lost another 30 lbs (total of 90) that she would put in for a sleep study test for me.
How about the rest of you? Did you set any goals other than weight loss?
Mary
Mary,
Since my surgery (2-23-04) I have not taken one blood pressure medication and not one pill for diabetes. This was definitely a goal of mine. Of course some things we are not in control of, but I knew these ailments were a direct result of being overweight, extremely overweight. I have been keeping a record of my blood sugars and blood pressures and all is well. I have been exercising twice a day. I perform most of my duties at home, except for things like vacuuming and laundry (except folding). I go back to work on the 15th of March so I don't want to sit around too much.
I have been doing great and I know this tool was well worth any troubles.
Good luck,
Pam
This may sound trivial in the face of you guys stopping important medications, but anyways. One of my goals was to have my mandatory work jacket fit me looser and look more professional. When I put it on for the first time (went back to work Monday), it was already looser, the seams were not bulging and I could even wear a sweater under it and have plenty of room. I am setting a goal that by the beginning of June, I will need to get the next size smaller jacket (shiny, clean and new).
It's the little things that I am glad for
