I was a athlete and i tore up my knees and have had knee surgerys on them and i haven't walked around for over a year. So now it is hard to walk with knee pain. I am trying to be good and walk but i can barley do it. I get up and move around more some but not like i should. Someone told me to do the best i can and hopefully soon it will get easier. I wan't to do the right thing. ? Can anyone help? Any Suggestions?

If you have acess to a pool you might start in there. I know it is easier on some people than walking and it is better for you as well since you have the water resistance.

I only do a little walking because of arthristis in my hips and knees. Pre-op I used an exercise bike, Tony Little's Gazelle, walked laps in the pool at the gym. Right now the bike and the pool are not an option cause my surgery was just 1 week ago. However I can still use the Gazelle. There is no impact on my hips and knees, it's easy to use and gives me a lot of the same movement as walking. You might want to look into one of those. I got mine at Sports Chalet, but they are available at many sports stores as well as thru TonyLittle.com Do the best you can, don't push to the point of further damaging your knees. Mary
