2 weeks post-op today and STILL PAIN!!
Hello. I am exactly two weeks post-op today, my 35th birthday (ta-da). I am new to this community and glad to see that some of you have had some similar experiences. Here is my situation that led me to post today.
I have some significant pain on my left side below my rib cage to my belly button. It is very annoying and I wonder why I have more pain today than I did 5 days ago. I have spent a lot of time in the car on some trips recently, perhaps that is the reason. I hope it's not a surgical set back. I hope to learn more and gain support from you wonderful supportive folks.
Enjoy the day.
Hey Denise,
Don't worry about the left side pain (yea right ). The lower left side is where the biggest laproscopic instrument gets stuffed in your body . Consequently, you get the most amount of abdominal bruising in that area and it usually takes a few days to hit you. If you're feeling a sharp pinching pain between your two left most incisions and your navel, then your feeling just what you're supposed to.
Best wishes
Darrin
Hi Denise,
That is so funny your posted this message. I am having exactly the same pain. I had my surgery on the 23 and I to thought it was a set back and getting a little nervous. I went to my surgeon today to get my drain out and he said basically the same thing as the the other post. He said they moved big muscles to get them out of the way and natuarally theres going to be pain. So I guess we have nothing to worry about, Only wi**** would go away so I can do much more walking...Ericka
Well thanks everybody for putting me at ease. I do feel better today, although the day is young. I really want to sleep on my stomach or left side, but I feel that's a long way away. I'll just take it easy and be good to myself as I continue to heal. During my first post-op appointment with the surgeon, he said what I was feeling was totally normal and OK, he said the pain in that region may last 1 month. 1 MONTH! Thanks for all your help and enjoy the day. Denise
Denise, I have a similar pinching/burning pain in my lower left stomach near my naval. It is close to the incision where they put the stapler in, so I am assuming that is why. I have found that if I sleep on my stomach, with a pillow long ways under my left side, with my left knee slightly up to the side it is very comfortable and the external pressure seems to help with the pain. Try it if you can.
