Finally feel like posting......
Had surgery on Feb. 24th. Regretted it the first two days in the hospital, but feeling better now. Left the hospital on Thursday with a drain (bummer ), but otherwise feeling pretty positive. I'm having ups and downs with missing my comfort foods, but I set myself up with a good support network before entering the hospital . Toughest thing so far has been choking down those God-awlful protien shakes . I got the chocolate designer whey and mix it with skim milk plus. It was okay the first day, but I hate it now. It's too sweet and has a horrible after taste. If any of you out there feel the same way (too sweet, bad after taste), I'd love to hear any solutions you've found. My biggest fear at the moment is that I might be coming down with something . The day before I came home, my son came down with strept-throat (it fricken' figures ). I didn't have anywhere else to go except back home, and now my throat is feeling thick and I've started a dry cough. Guess I'll be calling my doctor ASAP tomorrow to nip it in the bud. Gey, wouldn't a fever and rampid vomiting be lovely six days post-op ?
Best wishes to all my Feb' 04 brothers and sisters ,

Darrin; You just hang in ther kid. I'm just about 3 weeks post op, and I can definitely relate to those dad-gum shakes . I've been using the "Elite Chocolate Whey Protein Shake". In fact I posted at about 1 1/2 weeks with the same problem. What I'm doing to make it go down, is to blend in a nickel size peppermint candy (sugarless). It makes a huge difference for me. But experiment with little additions like that to find one you like. This too shall pass. Good luck buddy. God bless, Bob.
Hey Darrin
I can relate to missing comfort foods! My son made a pizza the other night, and I did everything in my power to not want it. The head hunger is a killer! I just have to keep reminding myself that I am in control, not my mind.
I am two weeks out and haven't tried a protein shake yet. I have been drinking Ensure with extra protein. They are soooo good! I don't know how they compare to the protien shakes that you all are drinking though.
Glad to hear you have a wonderful support system. I think that makes all the difference in the world! Keep up the good work and best wishes to your continued success!
