STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE THIS INCERDIBLE WEB-SITE

I had my surgery this past Tuesday, February 10th. I was home by Thursday and have not used any pain killers since Friday. Physically I am doing great, it's the emotional I am having a lot of trouble with. My head is starving and wants food. I can tolerate my jello and broth diet and don't want another bite of it. I really am hungry. I have had broth and jello for 8 days and lost only 5 pounds. I am definatley having "buyers remorse"! My emotions are all over the place, I cried during a Love Boat episode! Even more disturbing is that I watched a Love Boat episode! My fear is that even this won't work for me- and that my will to eat will sabotage this surgery.

I hope your doc lets you add in some milk, yogurt or protein powder soon. That should help. I will be on full liquids, not clear liquids by day 4. Have you tried SF popcycles? At least you can bite them! Also SF jello has the illusion of food. I had to laugh at your Love Boat comment! It WILL get better! Joy

I also had my surgery on the 10th and came home on the 12th. Please don't give in. When I have a hunger pain, I try apple juice. My doctor also told me that I could have some carnation instant breakfast. I haven't tried that, but I do drink advantage shakes 2 times a day. Sometimes I just imagine something that I want to eat, but I just fight it. I also make my family eat what I want and somehow that seems to help. Good luck to you.

Hang in there, Laura! I had the hunger pains so bad that I started dreaming about turkey sandwiches! LOL The thing that really helps me is my food journal. I know it sounds silly but I keep a detailed account of my vitamins, the tums EX I have to take and what I have for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I even write down my snacks. I try to go by a plan of when I'm going to eat and what I can have. I got SO tired of jello that I could have screamed. I'm two weeks post op now and even though my food still has to be pureed I try to find new and interesting ways to have it. Baby food is so expensive that I just use the regular food like pinto beans, corn, green beans, even asparagus and put em in the blender. I don't know what diet your doctor has you on but believe me, IT WILL GET BETTER! You think the Love Boat is disturbing---I caught myself watching the Waltons!

thanks for the kind words- actually since I posted that message I am now able to have soft proteins and am doing much better. I think it was just the first few days post-op and my hormones were all over the place from the anesthesia. Good night John-Boy!
