Hello fellow future/present losers!!! I can't believe that I am this close to my date!! It seems like this journey has been so long! I am a little nervous and very excited! I just want it over with. I know that the Lord has paved this path for me and that it is the right decision. I think that it was the hardest one that I have ever had to make. I just hope that there are no complications, that is what I am afraid of. Congrats to all of you for making this bold decision! Take care, and God Bless! Joy

Hello Joy! My surgery will also be on the 23rd so I am counting right along with you! I have mixed emotions too. There are still people asking me if I am SURE I want to go through with this. It seems a funny question to me. I have been fighting to get approved for almost a year. Even though I am a little scared it has never entered my mind that I would back out. I am so grateful to you and everyone on this website. I just don't think anyone can really understand how we are feeling if they haven't lived as an obese person. I don't expect to be some sexy thing afterwards, I just want to live like everyone else! I have tried to get ready for the time off of work. I bought books and lots of sugarfree liquids. Has your doc said what vitamins he wants you to take? I haven't gotten any of those yet. 2 people I know who have had the surgery take flinstones chewable! Here's to us!!! Wooo hoo! Have a wonderful Valentine's Day Michelle

Hello, Joy and Michelle - you will both be in my thoughts. I'll be just a day behind you on the 24th - on 'FAT TUESDAY' - or in this case, NO-MORE-FAT TUESDAY! Good luck, and God bless you both along the way! Sherri

Hello fellow (future) losers!! When I made my initial post, it was 12:30 where I am in MN....so 10 days from then is actually the 24th. (I wi**** was the 23rd) . I have not heard what time it is going to be at, but I hope that it is early in the day. I am not a particularly patient person when it comes to these things. I know exactly what you mean about people asking if you are sure that you want to do this. We would not have gone this far if we were not sure. The only person that I did not totally blow off when they asked me that question was my 11 yr old daughter. She is very nervous about the surgery. She is afraid that something is going to happen. I explained to her that there is more risk to my health if I do not get the surgery done than if I do......but it is hard for a child to understand. My doctor did not tell me that I had to take any vitamins, but I have started taking Biotin so that I do not lose as much hair, and a multi vitamin. I am reluctant to take a children's vitamin because I think that it has sugar in it and I am not sure if it would make me dump after the surgery. Is anyone nervous about leaks? I have heard lots of stories, and that is what my main concern is at this point. I will be praying for safe surgeries for my fellow 2/24 partners, and the 2/23 sisters (and brothers) that are warming up the O.R.'s for us! Take care, and happy losing!! Joy

Hi Joy, Hope everything goes well for you next Tuesday. I will be thinking about you. My surgery is next Friday @ 7:00 am and I have some of the same fears you do about the leaks. One of the ladies in my dept had the surgery and then had a leak. She was set back about 6 weeks. She said the pain was very bad from the leak. I am scared about that happening to me. I was wondering what is Biotin and what multi vitamin are you using? Also, my doc said not to use any protein drinks as it adds calories. But everyone is different. I do not want my hair falling out so I will drink them if necessary. What is the best kind? Laurie

Laurie, I was told to take bioxin to help to not lose so much hair. They are little white pills that you take once a day, you can get it at Wal-Mart and Target. I have not heard anything from my doctor about protien drinks, but I do know that you have to find one with REALLY low carbs....and as we all know, the carbs are what males them taste good. I have just been taking Centrum Silver. It is for older people, but I have a problem with the iron in the regular ones. My stomach has a hard time digesting it and it gives me an upset stomach. How long are you planning on being out of work? Are you having the Laproscopic or open surgery? Joy
