I am scheduled for surgery Feb. 19th and now I am getting sick. Anyone take antibiotics the week before surgery...."just incase". I pray they don't cancel the surgery...I am so "psyched" to get it over with.

I am sick as well and my surgery is MONDAY!! I'm terrified they're going to cancel it because of being sick. I went to the dr on wednesday and he gave me a shot of keflex in my rear and a prescription for Levaquin and some decongestant. Well the sores are multiplying in the back of mouth throat after being on the meds for 2 days and I am still congested. UGH!!!!!

I am 10 days post op and had a really bad sore throat the day I went for my pre-op appt at the hospital. The nurse told me if I still had it on surgery day that surgery would be postponed cause they will not do it sick. She said if it was still sore 24 hrs. prior to surgery to call the hospital. Thank goodness it went away. Talk to your dr. and see if there is time to take an antibiotic or something else that will not interfere with surgery. Better to try now than to go to hospital and be sent home disappointed.

Hi there,my surgery was for the 13th and it has been moved to the 21st because I am very sick with the flu. I started geting sick on Sat wa put on antibiotics and was worse by Tuesday. They gave me a antibiotic shot and the next day was still worse. Today it has been 8 days and have now started a new antibiotic to see if it clears up. I think you have enough time to get better. Good luck!! I hope to hear from you.
