Be Positive!

Hi Everyone, I have surgery in 4 days. If it wasn't for a great life partner, a supportive company to work for, a great surgeon and staff and this web site I would not be as at peace with the decision I have made to change my life forever! I have spent a tremendous amount of time reading the stories on this website and have learned so much. I have to be honest, reading some of the stories are enough to scare people. I realize we all have to be honest but that is the downside of sharing with people our experiences. I have always been one to stand tall and pump people up. Since I have gotten obese, the fat has somewhat covered up my courage and I struggle with being that motivator. I am now seeing the hope and believe that we all will be just fine. IS IT SCARY? Yes, but the alternative for those of us that have other life threatening diseases or complications is death! I am couragous like so many people on this site. Be strong, have the belief in yourself, push yourself to get better quick, enjoy the journey as it is life changing and BELIEVE in yourself again! Stop reading some of the sad stories when they start to get you down. Yes, they could happen to you but so could getting in a car accident on the way to my last dinner! I am anxous but I am ready and I wish all of those who are having surgery soon the best and to just have a vision in your mind when you fall to sleep at surgery. Think of what you want to feel like when you are thinner and look like. Keep that vision until you reach it. GOOD LUCK!!!!! Craig

Right on Craig!! I've been, for the most part, very positive towards this. It's now 4:41am and I can't sleep. Pre-surgery jitters are settling in. I did my living will this evening with two good friends of mine and in doing that it has made me think about the negative aspect of things. I have been positive up till tonight but it's just a slight bump in the road. With pre-op tomorrow and shopping this weekend - it's all smooth sailing from here and everything will be good!
