I'm glad to say that my surgery is complete and I'm home now. It has been about a week now, and the recovery is going well now. I had some setbacks in the hospital and needed four transfusions of blood and had to stay one extra day. I finally was able to come home on Sunday 02/08/04. One of the hardest things to get used to is monitoring your fluid intake. I used to love to guzzle cold water. Now, since I can only have one oz. I have to measure carefully. If I don't, I'm too careful and don't drink enough. I'm going to go get a timer to clip on my shirt for a reminder to drink more frequently. I'm walking and doing my deep breathing, so that's all I can do for now. I still can't believe I had it done though. I weighed myself in the hospital, and found that I had gained three pounds and was at 319. That just made me laugh. But now I'm at 310, so something must be working. I'll keep everyone posted!

congranst on a great start. Good to know all is going well. I too love to guzzle cold water I have been trying to sip all my drinks now. I had someone tell me to get a sippy cup to help control that. Good luck with the weight loss, will be on that side soon. Dana

Congrats. on your new life!!! I began my new life just two days previous to yours. My pouch was made to be about one ounce like yours. I have found I can easily drink three ounces in fifteen minutes. So perhaps you can "test" the waters a bit, if your Dr. approves. Before the surgery I had imagined barely being able to sip water. That simply isn't the case, thank goodness. Well lot's of luck Blessings, Zane
