I am 6 days post op . Thank G-D all went extremely well. I got out of the hospital on the second day post op after passing my leak test, eating and tolerating pureed foods, being afebrile and walking frequently. I was extremely ready to bolt out of the hospital! Life at home is good. Lots of post op meds to contend with--all with various schedules, but doable. Only complaint is the tenderness where the surgery is. The drugs in the hospital are way better than the ones you take at home. I have just stopped the hydrocodone in favor of extra strength tylenol. The former made me woozy and not myself. I was also told by a very helpful Almira to use warm compresses for 20 minutes 3 times a day. I am down 13 lbs since Monday! Its insane! I cant believe it! I am on my way to a healthier life!. Good luck to all of you!

Hello Donna Congratulations on your recovery. I am scheduled to have my surgery in March 15. I am kind of nervous now that I know I can have it. So how is having the tubes? Keep us update and all goes well.

I am so glad you are doing well. Thanks for all the info. My surgery is on the 27th of Feb and I am so anxious. Worried too, have 3 kids and am all alone. How bad is the pain the first week? Do you think I should have someone at my house to help me? My kids are 8-10-12. Laurie

Donna, I had my surgery on 02/04/04, but I am curious about your diet. It sounds like you have already started on pureed foods, is that right? My surgeon won't let me go down that road until three weeks post op. When were you allowed to start eating regular food?

Who was your surgeon? I'm having R.Bell and his instructions are about the same. Did you go to Kelly's talk pre-op? She suggests 3-4 weeks I think. *Daffodil*
