Just DO IT!!!!! I am down to two a day now and I was smoking a pack a day less then one month ago. Just cut it back by two or one a day , like if you smoke 20 ciggs a day tomorrow make it 18 then 16 then 14 then 12 then 11 then 10 and so on, it works the gum is nasty. You can try the patch but not if you have high BP, and dont smoke when you are using the patch. GOOD LUCK!! I am 5 day away from my date!! Sandra Hoffman

Elina.. you have got to do it. Being under anethesia is rough on your lungs anyhow and being a smoker makes it harder for you to recouperate and clear your lungs after. I have heard of a few smokers having to go home on oxygen tanks after surgery. I gave it up 3 weeks ago when I got my date.

well davel, if you want the surgery BAD enough you will quit smoking long enough to have it. and by then you will be able to not pick them back up. i don't smoke so i don't know what it is like to want a cig. but i can tell you that the surgery out weighs the cigs. i had mine 2yrs ago and i would have done anything i had to, to have the surgery ...it had been the best move i ever done.. please if you can quit smoking it will be better for your lungs and body in the long run... good luck
