Information Needed

I am having surgery on February 27th. Am really nervous about any possible things that could happen. I dont have allot of time off from job, so am trying to go back as soon as possible after surgery. Am asking people how you felt after 3 weeks post op--could you have been ready to return to a job that you could sit at a computer all day?

Hey Laurie! I don't think many on this board would know since we all have our surgeries this month. I am having the surgery open and the doc seems to think that if I want to go back to work at 3 weeks I can, but doesn't recommend it. Not that it would be phsyically impossible, but they are concerned emotionally that you need time to adjust to this new life. You might want to check and see if your job benefits include Short Term disability.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, we were just offered short term disability this month and it will be effective April 1, 2004. I did not want to reschedule my surgery, am too anxious for it to be completed. What does open mean? Laurie

All the people I have talked to except one and my doctor seem to think you could be back to work after 2 weeks but you can not lift anything! The doctor wrote me a note for 4-6 weeks but said "you can go back as soon as you feel up to it as long as you dont lift anything and you dont get over tiered." This is just what my doctor said, I have noticed every doctor seems to have his own way. Good journey Dana
