Hi there. How is everyone doing on the presurgery liquid diet? Does every surgeon require it for 2 weeks before surgery? Mine does. The first day or two actually weren't very hard (I thought they would be the worst). The more difficult ones come on day 4 and 5. It didn't help that day 4 was my mother-in-law's bday.. and day 5 was my step daugher's bday and day 6 will be superbowl party... ARGH! I just keep setting my mind on the end goal.. but it isn't easy. Sometimes I am taking it hours or minutes at a time. Anyone else having any difficulty getting through it?

My surgeon doesn't require it. I was surprised, but since I have to be out of town the week before my hospitalization, it does make things easier for me. Hang in there!

Hi, What is the pre-surgery diet? I have not heard of it. My doctor never said anything about it. How does it work? How long before your surgery do you do it? Good Luck to you and have a successful surgery.

My surgeon only requires a clear diet the day before. And of course a couple of bottles of magnesium citrate. Cheers! I have heard of this routine before but it sounds real odd. The goal should be to have a cleaned out tract and that can be handled the day before. Perhaps he is getting you into the routine that we must follow post-op? bill

My surgery is the day after yours and there is no required diet for my doc's patients. I was told to not after solids after lunch the day before and try to have broth and water or tea for dinner.( I know I am not condemned or I'd be allowed to have steak and a baked potato.)

My surgeon requires a 'soft diet' 48 hours before and liquid diet day before....hmmm...all must be a little different Vanessa

Hi, Don't worry, your not alone. No one else who's replied yet has let you know though. My surgery date is 12 Febuary. I have a 10 day pre-op diet, and I started it today. I know it's gonna be tough...but I think it'll be worth it. Hang in there!!!!!!

My surgery is on Feb 10 and I have a 4 day liquid diet. But since I got my date I have started on the shakes in addition to my regular food and I have lost 5 pounds.
