surgery 2/16/04
My name is Debbie and after 3 appeals I finally have a date of Feb. 16th. I'm so excited. I will have laporiscopic rny at Harvard Hospital in Harvard, IL. The surgeon and staff there have been so helpful and supportive. I am looking forward to getting healthier. I am a single mom with an 8 year old daughter and a 5 year old son. I'm 46 years old what was I thinking!
After working all day/week I just don't have the energy to do anything but put a spoon to my mouth. Also, obesity runs in my family and I'd like to stop that cycle now with my children. I don't want them struggling like I did/do with my weight. My son is already a "hefty" boy and getting ridiculed for it. I'm doing this for them as much as for myself. I've never had any type of surgery so I'm a little scared, but boy am I ready. Hope to hear from some of you with your own stories and experiences. You can email me at [email protected]

I am very happy for you and i know you will feel great soon! I am having my surgery in 3 weeks February 23rd and i can't wait. I am very nervous but i know my life will be much better after. I have the same weight problem in my family too. I was a athlete for many years then pregnancy and gestational diabeties changed everything. I also have very bad knees from the sports. I can't wait to do more things with my kids. I have a very supportive husband and i know it would be imposible with out him. He is handicapped himself so we all help eachother out. I'm so happy to hear from you. I can't wait for surgery. I am so ready. (although rite now I'm fighting a little cold). I've been ready almost a year now.
