Today I did my pre-op testing. YUK!!..Well actually, it wasn't all that bad. I find myself getting anxious over the prospect of my upcomming surgery.(2/11/04) I would have thought that after chasing this procedure for over a year now, all I would feel is joy and anticipation. Wrong! It's not the surgery itself that frightens me as much as life after DS. Food has been so much a part of my life for as long as I can remember and suddenly I'm going to be eating out of medicine cups. I know that most of you have gone through this already, I guess I just need to know that I can do it too. Unfortunately, I won't meet with any of my support team (nutritionist, psychologist, etc.****il the day before surgery. Can anyone tell me what it is I should stock my shelves with so that I'm ready for my post-op life? Reading this message I sound pathetic, but that's where I am at the moment. Thanks, Bob

Hi Bob.. I'm right behind you 2/17/04.. I have stocked up on carnation instant breakfast (no sugar added) sugar free popsicles and fudgesicles, sugar free jello. they also sell broth in differnent kinds at your local market. I was told that our taste buds will change so I didn't go crazy on protein shakes till I get home. Try to remember we will finally feel full after a few bites. Something I know I haven't felt in a long time. It's all a head game. But I'm sure well worth it!!! Just be glad we don't have thanks giving or christmas dinner coming up. this will give us time to prepare for those. Good luck, Sandy

Bob, You are on your way. I am happy for you. I am going in on 2/09/04. I am excited but nervous too. But as you I know I am ready. As for your shelves. Make sure you get your protein powders. That is a first. Then I would do applesauce, yogurt, cottage cheese and tuna in water. Then peanut butter (fat free). I went with frozen veggies than that cans. But the protein powders are a must. I got Isopure, vanilla. And it tastes pretty good. And you can mix it in water or milk. Also I got designer whey natural flavor. I have added sugar free sryups to it like atkins rasberry and strawberry. Not to bad. I hope this helps some. Good luck and hope to hear how you are doing. Donna
