Happy Birthday to me!

I scheduled my surgery on my birthday intentionally. Birthdays are always an upset for me for a couple of reasons. Because of my size, I guess people just don't think I need cake, even if it is my birthday. At work (if they remember) I get fresh fruit and bagels. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but everyone else gets a cake. At home it's pretty much the same. My husband will take me out for a nice dinner, but no cake. I'm usually too full for dessert anyway. I haven't had a birthday party since I was a kid. I've always wanted an adult birthday party, but kind of felt it was weird to plan one for myself. This year, I decided if I was in the hospital having surgery, I couldn't eat cake or have a party anyway. This way, I feel I'm giving myself a new life. From now on, my birthdays will always be special wheather I get a cake and party or not.

Well, let me be the first to tell you happy birthday this year. You should take your self for a special piece of cake a couple days early. I feel what you are saying. My birthday was the same day as my stepgrandmother so I got to share a cake with her every year when I was a kid. So I too haven't had a party, that is ok I will give myself one this year.
