Happy friday guys and gals this is the weekly check in. This week I was on a fruit and salad kick. It was too humid to eat anything other than "cool foods". I drank lots of water and chewed my vitamins but to my surpise not an ounce lost, I even swam and walked more. I guess I will have to work harder this week and that I will, I will update you all on my progress. Tomorrow I will definately exercise because it is my family reunion and we hold it in a park where we run around and play games so I will work out alot tomorrow and on Sunday (starting last week) we walk to church instead of taking the car. So during the week I can walk on my breaks. And I want to begin to do protein drinks so I am going to order a sampler pack and let you know how it goes. I hope everyone meets their goals for the week. Annette

I haven't been on the boards in a while... Starting to watch my carbs again this week has made me want to plug back in with all of you! I am up about 15 from my lowest weight last spring...goal is to get back and maintain there. I forgot how much "fun" all the protein shakes are! Does anyone have any reccomendations for lo carb products (i work 70 + hours a week, so not so much time to cook!) that have no sugar alcohols in them? Thanks, Liz 245/163/145

Liz, I "hate" those darn sugar alcohols. They really make me ill. For a sweet, crunchy treat I make up a sugar free snow cone. YUMMMMMMM I keep soy nuts in the cupboard too for a good crunch. They are not tempting to me, but are satisfying. Most nuts are trigger foods so I have to be careful. I make a coffee cake from a multi grain Trader Joe baking mix ($1.99 a box). I substitute 2 egg whites for 1 whole egg;, 3 tablespoons of unsweetened applesuace for the 3 Tblsp of oil, and 1/2 cup Splenda for the 1/2 cup sugar in the recipe. Use fat free milk instead of buttermilk or milk --- have used water too instead of the milk. End up with a fat free, sugar free coffeecake ... it does have blueberries in it (unsweetened) so there is a minimal amount of sugar that is natural in the berries and the non fat milk. The recipe is on the side of the box. CAn be easily frozen in single serving pices. Pick whole grain breads instead of white. Eat a sweet potato instead of a regular pototo. South Beach has some great wraps in the refrigerator section at the store. There frozen pizza tho is pretty bad in my opinion. I buy low carb "Mission" brand tortillas and make a sandwich with that. Really good and easy to make. Sam's Club and Costco have pre-sliced deli meats. We buy those and wrap in individual serving sizes and freeze until need. Thaw quickly in the micro or leave out in fridge over night. You can get turkey, turkey pastrami, ham, beef etc. Mary

Annette, I envy you the family reunion ... how fun. I'm doing good with exercise, using the pool at least once a day and walking too. Weight seems to be starting to go down 1/4 of a lb here and there. Got the junk out of the house, hubby now needs to watch too. So making this a family commitment. Have a great weekend. Mary
