Hi Everyone, Sorry to be so late today posting. Just got a slow start today. I'm doing good, how about the rest of you. Our pool cleaner hasn't been working right this week so not using the pool. They came today to fix it ... YEAH!!!!!! I will be in the pool by tomorrow for sure. I'm doing really well taking my vitamins daily. Exercising is going well too. BUT those darn carbs keep talking to me. I'm trying hard to get them under control. My brother and his daughter will both be here for two weeks as of next Friday. Both of them have had WLS too, so that really should help keep me in line (I HOPE, I HOPE). My brother had surgery 5 years ago and my niece 3 months ago. It has been great talking to her on the phone about her surgery and what she is going thru. I think our chats help both of us. Hope everyone has a great week. What are your goals this week??? Mine are: 1. To get the house ready for company. 2. Keep taking my vitamins 3. Stay on top of the protein 4. Exercise daily 5. AND work hard on eliminating the carbs. Mary

Hi Mary and Everyone, Glad to hear your getting your vitamins in daily. I'm right there with you when it comes to those darn carbs! I am really struggling with that. I am getting my vitamins, water and exercising in. It is so hot here, but I still walk four times a week at least for an hour each time. I have a walking buddy and we keep each other in line. I also swim just about every day. That is really refreshing. My goals for the week are to keep getting my water, vitamins and exercising in. That seems to be keeping me maintaining. I will TRY HARD to watch the carbs this week. I'm off this week coming up. Mark and I are planning to just hang out around the house. Everyone have a great week!! And Mary, don't work too hard on that beautiful house!!! Wanda

Wanda, You really are doing great with the walking. When it is hot here, I often will walk at the mall (so much nicer). Isn't it great to have a walking buddy, that sure can help with the motivation. Mary

Another wonderful Friday....well for me Monday. Let me reflect on last week, I did good on meds, vitamins, and water but not well with protein. I have the same problem, those carbs, you got to love them but hate that you do. This week I am going to focus more on eating, what is going into my mouth. And keep up with my icy water and meds and vitamins. Talk to you all Friday. Annette.

Annette, Isn't it amazing how easily those darn carbs can creep back into our lives. Take it a day at a time. We all can/will overcome the carbs. Mary

*sigh* hi everyone. Im sorry its been so long since Ive posted. School is driving me insane and trying to keep up with work is just plain hard. I have been slacking very badly and its time to really get back on top of this. However, I think Im developing an ulcer and its making it hard to eat anything other than pretzels at the moment. I am still @ 209 and not exercising. Somedays, I get my water in, others I dont. I stink at my protein and always eat carbs. I really gotta get back to the rules. I need help!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!! Im sorry I need to get back to studying, but I will post more soon, I promise. I cant even comprehend what my goals should be at the moment. Sarah

Sarah, Your goal is to get into the doctor and have your tummy check out especially if you believe you have an ulcer. Catching it early is KEY to a quick recovery from it. Also you can't live on pretzels. Not meant as a lecture, honest. I'm just sincerely concerned for your well being. I understand the high stress in your life with school, working, home ... but remember to give yourself a #1 priority especially when it comes to your health. Mary

I know Mary, I know. However, my health insurance is terrible right now and I only have ER visits, diagnostic testing, and inpt stay if ness. I have to do some research on the clinics around here to see if I qualify. My school doesnt offer coverage to students b/c its a small hospital school, so it doesnt matter to the ER. You pay when you get there. I know I cant live on pretzels. I gotta get thru this test, and then Im takin some me time today and tomorrow. Thank you for your concern mary. I will let you know what happens. sarah

My doctor had me take Pepcid AC daily to help prevent ulcers. I took it faithfully for 3 months after surgery and now take it when my tummy acts up. I find that in times of high stress, my tummy doesn't like most foods. Are you able to drink the protein shakes and keep them down? That would be a good way to get calories, protein, and some nutrition in. You also may want to try carb control yogurt, that would be smooth and creamy. Pureed food may be an answer to getting more foods in too. (the stage 2 diet after surgery). I just want you to feel better.
