Well you know they say that nothing is garenteed except right now. We should live each day as though it's our last. In a way all of us who got this life saving surgery got a 2nd lease on life. Things are so differnt for me now, it's a whole new world.

I had my WLS 2/1/02 and went from 587 lbs to 225. From size 10X sweats (because size 70 pants were to small) to size 38.
I did have a pannalectomy/hernia repair in October 2003. Here it is march and I am still a little sore from that. Not pain, just not back to normal. My life has changed in so many ways...
I went to a support group meeting with my wife the other day. There was a new guy there who looked like I did before. I made a point to set next to him and talk. He thought I was there because my wife needs wls. He could not understand why I was taking such an interest in him. When he understood that I was once very much so like him he just lit up. He said he could never even imagine me as heavy! HA HA
Today is my birthday, I turn 41. But to be honnest I feel younger than I did at 28. I act that way some times too... LOL

I can't believe it has been two years. I feel so good these days. I can go to the closet and pick out anything I want to wear and not end up in tears because I look stupid in it. I can stand in a group of people without feeling like everyone is inwardly thinking what a whale, why doesn't she do something about that weight? I can sit down and eat in a public place without feeling eyes on me scanning what I have in front of me thinking, well I can see why she looks like she looks.
I actually feel normal and can relate to normal sized people. It feels good to be part of the average size world. I am so thankful that I had this surgery and that I have had no complications. When I sit down and am able to cross my legs I am thankful, when I go up a flight of stairs I'm thankful, when I snap a seatbelt I'm thankful, when I bend over to tie my shoes or cut my toenails I'm thankful. It's all the little things that happen each and every day that make it all worth while.
Thank you God for giving me this blessing.

This is my anniversary Year and Month! Yea!!!!! I am so happy, this surgery has really changed my life for the better. I don't know the long-term effects yet, but if I could at least live my next forty years happy, I don't care what happens. I just take one day at a time and enjoy it to the fullest. That is the beauty of life. It is what we make of it. I have never been happier about my self image as I am now. This Febuary 6th, I am two years into my anniversary! I feel great and look great! Thanks to Obesityhelp.com I was able to become informed and make this decison for a better healthier life! Thank you Eric Klein for making this site and all the other's for maintaining this site. We all deserve a hand! Congrats to all of us!! Sincerely Karen S. Hodge

This is my first Post. I don't see many guys posting here, but I know they are around. I had my RNY 2/12/02 have dropped 250lb. Went from size 68 pants and 8x shirts to 36/38 pants and 17 1/2" shirts (off the rack at WalMart) I feel wonderful. My wife had the sane surgery a year ago the 29th of Jan. She has dropped 105lbs. What a new lease on LIFE for both of us. I've exceeded my weight loss by 10lbs and have remained stable for almost 4 months. Still very conscious of eating right/vitamins and exersize and water intake. Anyone had the Excess skin and fat removed?

Topic: Almost 2 years out now...
Well, it's almost been 2 years now and I'm battling the final 60-80 lbs. I've stayed at a stable weight for the last 5-6 months and I'm afraid I might be stuck here forever (sigh). I'm hoping to loose another 30 by the end of April and then start the process of pre-approval for a lower body lift. I have been approved for a tummy tuck but I only want to go through that pain one time!
On the positive side, I have lost 175 lbs in the last 2 years and that's nothing to sneeze at!! I guess we all want the brass ring and are very rarely satisfied with what we're given. The weight loss surgery has truly been a precious tool that was given to me.
Any words of wisdom from fellow plateau folks? How did you break it and get re-motivated?
