Topic: 14 months out from RNY to DS revision

I no longer feel like a FAILURE!!!!!  I am a success!!!!  I now possess the right tool to remain healthy for the rest of my life!!!!

After 18 months with my RNY, it was like a switch was flipped, no matter what I did the weight kept piling back on.  I stabilized with an 80 pound regain and my weight was at 230 for years.

Due to my ruined metabolism, the RNY was not the best surgery for me.  The DS was.

Topic: RE: I WAS WONDERING..HOW MUCH YOU GUYS CAN EAT NOW..
I am 10 years out and still can only eat a cup or less. It all depends, if it's soup and I haven't eaten all day I can eat more, solids, less. I can eat about three cups of popcorn or more.
I do go out to eat often and YES i do go to a buffet if i want. Someone mentioned that it's a waste of money but after so many years, who cares! If I want to eat a bite or two of everything I will. I do go to Dairy Queen now and then for a chicken basket. I can eat 2 1/2 chicken strips and 6 or 7 fries, two bites of the toast and I'm full.
I have gotten to the point that if I want a prime rib dinner I order it. I got tired of not ordering things because I couldn't eat enough then drooling over others. I eat what I can and bring the rest home and eat on it for a day or two.
I enjoy my food now, just not much of it. I don't miss anything anymore. Be patient and just go with the flow. Keep your carbs down and you will have success.
I am 3 pounds above my lowest weight after 10 years.

Topic: Indigestion after 10 years.
I am 10 years post RNY and still around my lowest weight! But... for the past month I have been getting indigestion every single night! I can't seem to eat as much because it makes me feel full alot quicker.
I don't get it! I haven't changed anything I eat but I'm getting this horrible indigestion now. Any ideas?

That is a nice bull.  He is probably about 7 feet tall.  8 or 9 feet at the top of his rack.  Hard to believe that they shed those racks every winter & they grow back bigger the following summer!!!!!

I realize this message is very old but I'm curious as to whether you ever received approval and had the procedure done.  I'm in the same boat in terms of where I live and the type of insurance I have.  It's been 13 months and I've lost 50 lbs. with my lap band.  I'd like to lose another 30.  I've already got noticeable saggy skin all over my body though my weight loss has not been as dramatic as others.  How are you doing these days?  It's been nearly a decade for you.

Topic: 9 years since RNY & planning revision

I have been working towards having a revision to DS since 2009.  Insurance has been a huge hold-up, but if I am ever approved, I will be traveling from Alaska down to California to Dr. Keshishian. for my RNY to DS revision.  And, if insurance will not pay, eventually I will go down to Mexico, or Spain and have my revision.

Topic: RE: 6 year post-op anniv! :)
I am 7 years post-op yesterday, and am glad to know I'm not the only one who has gained some weight back. I started at 309, and got as low as 180 (-129 lbs.), but now I'm back up to 220.  I went from a size 24/26 down to a size 16 comfortably.  I'm up to a size 18 and even it's beginning to be uncomfortable.  I met someone a few months back that had surgery I believe 4 years ago an she's a skinny minny... Like a size 4.  I never got below a 16!  But what she said to me was very ... RUDE!  She said "if you had gastric bypass surgery and you gain any weight back, then you don't deserve to be small and you should have never had it".  I'm sorry, Miss Perfect, didn't realize that's its a perfect system!  I am still an emotional eater...

Hard for me to believe that this coming Thursday will be 7 years.  I have gained back weight.  But, bottom line is that this was a surgery that changed my life for the better.

Here is a picture (not of me) to show you just how big the moose are here in Alaska.
