Topic: RE: Long Range Post Ops
Hi. I am new to this website. I had a Vertical Banded Gastroplasty, on 02/16/1995. At the time of my surgery, I weighed 320 lbs. I stand 5' 11" tall. Before my surgery, I fought the yo-yo effects, for years. My highest weight (in 1993) was 350 lbs. After my surgery, the weight started magically disappearing. In the first year, I went from 320 lbs., to 210 lbs. After that time, I moved back to Texas, and met and married my 2nd husband. During the second year, I went from 210 lbs., to 159 lbs., for a total weight loss of 161 lbs. -- That's like losing 1/2 of my body. -- For the last seven years, I have successfully kept the weight off, fluctuating between 170-180 lbs. I am so much happier, since I had the surgery; and would do it again, in a heartbeat. I am hoping some day to be able to put some pictures on here, to share with everyone. It makes such a big difference in your life, and your outlook on life. You are in my prayers.

I guess there are not that many people who are several years post op that post very much. That is a shame as I would love to talk to others that are as far post op as I am just to compare notes.

Topic: Where are those that are farther "Post Op"?
Hi all, Just trying to hook up with some of you who are further post op. I can't believe it has been 8 1/2 years since my Open RNY. I have been very lucky and had no complications. I had a baby 1 yr & 9 months post op. About 6 yrs post op I had my gall bladder removed, a hernia repair, a bowel resection and a tummy tuck all done at the same time. The following year I needed to have a hysterectomy. All of that went really well, but now I am struggling with a 15 lb weight gain, since my hysterectomy and I am looking for some support from others that may be struggling with this type of thing. It is very frustrating for me as I started a WLS Support group 2 1/2 years ago and it is hard as a leader to try to talk about this let along ask for help to deal with it and get back on the losing track. Any ideas??? Thanks. Carleen Golden (Lost 140 lbs & have gained 15 back - Please Help) Leader & Founder of the New You Support Group http://groups.msn.com/thenewyousupportgroup
