Topic: RE: Hi - anyone home?
Hi there!
I had RNY on the 24th and am on stage 2 which is pureed but no cheese or meat until next week. Overall I am doing good, a bit tired and having a bunch of head hunger (I am not physically hungry but the kitchen calls to me!) need to break this habit. :) I have been trying to get protein in but am limited to yogurt, pudding, and supplements right now. Nothing is very satisfying...

Katy - I journal everything that goes in my mouth on fitday.com. It's free and you can also track your weight and exercise. There's also a place to journal and write down how you are feeling, etc. I find it invaluable. When you put what you eat in, it breaks down fat, carbs and protein. I don't know where I'd be without it! Give it a try.

As far as BMs I am almost 1m out and mine are still VERY loose! I am assured that it is not very uncommon.
Calorie wise, I really should start counting. I have the misfortune of not feeling full, so I have to watch how much I eat VERY carefully!! I really have to talk to my nutritionist. I am calling her tomorrow to see what is up. I have been trying to limit what I eat to 1/4c, but I can eat a whole 6oz cup of yogurt and still feel not full. SO there has to be a problem. Oh, I am about 3 1/2 wks out. and at the end of the pureed phase.

Topic: Dessert recipe for those on puree or soft foods
I know on puree we kind of get sick of the same old crap. I was looking to figure out what else to do with Greek yogurt. Well I found something. Some of you might not like it, but it is worth a try, since Greek yogurt is a great protein source. You might have to thin it out a bit with milk. And you can add unflavored protein to it, just a bit though. Anyway, here it is.
Chocolate Mocha Mousse
Take 1/4c of f/f, plain Greek yogurt, I used Chobini 0% plain. 3 small heaping tsp of Maxwell House International Cafe S/F, Decaf, Suisse Mocha coffee beverage powder mix and Equal or what ever sweetener you use, enough to your taste and mix it all together. It turns into a mousse consistency. Like I said, you can thin it out, if you have to, based on your diet phase. It has a bit of a tang. And you have a Chocolate Mocha Mousse.
Enjoy!!

Topic: Hi - anyone home?
Hi January people! I'm just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I'm doing really well. Feeling good, a little weaker than I'd like, but I know that will get better with time.
I'm finishing up my first week of liquids - protein drinks, water, broth, etc. and beginning tomorrow or Sunday I can start on pureed foods!! Woo-hoo! I'm psyched for that!
My plans for pureed are ricotta cheese with a touch of spaghetti sauce on it and maybe some shredded mozz melted into it; refried beans with some shredded jack cheese and sour cream melted into it, scrambled eggs (if I can keep them mushy enough). and I even bought a couple of jars of baby food chicken and ham. I also got some baby rice cereal...see how that goes, but will try to get the protein in first. The nutritionist mentioned tuna, but after my original surgery, tuna and my pouchy never quite got along very well, so waiting on that.
I've been walking and doing a little more exercise every day, so feeling tired, but a good tired.

I wish I could help you but I am on pureed foods. I dont know how many calories I am takning in. I can only eat 2 oz of food 4 to 5 times a day. Plus 4 oz of protein drinks 4 times a day.
As far as the BM it was awful I was very constipated. I had to take liquid colace and MOM. Finally went.

Topic: How many calories are you getting in?
I'm about four days out and on liquids this week. I can have protein shakes, broth, water, etc. I'm only getting in about 200 calories a day and not sure that's enough. Anyone else on liquids? How many calories are you getting in?
Also, a 'delicate' subject - bowel movements. Any little bit I've had has been pretty loose. Anyone else?
