I had a lapband- 9-16-08, and it as a problem from day one. Within a year I was starting to look into a revision. I finally was approved to start my journey into RNY land in June 2010. By summers end I had almost all my requirements met. But had to be past my two year mark before they'd officially start me. So I had to wait... then they decided theyd' need a EGD. That had actually improved regardless of the reflux I had with the band.

Long story short I got my new date the day after Thanksgiving.... 1-11-11 was my day.... which came and went really fast.

I'm one week post op, eating by the letter of my surgeons orders, and I've already dropped 20 pounds. In a week????? I already know I dump, on sodium. Beef broth and tomato cream soup.... OMG i feel awful after them.

Btw, where in MI< we use to live in Monroe years ago.

She is a person who, like you are going to, had a RNY many years ago...did as her doctor told her and it almost killed her. She did the research and has studied. She has become the vitamin guru around her and has helped more people become healthy.

I also had my surgery on the same day.  I was hungry from the minute I left the hospital.  I am having a lot of head hunger.  I made a comment to my husband that my grocery shopping habits are going to change and he commented that why should he have to suffer when I chose to have the surgery.  I understand his point, to a point.  We have two small children ( 4 and 7) and they do not need to be eating all the fatty processed foods that we are used to.  I told him he can buy his own "crap" and hide it.  So yes, head hunger has been a problem because I have to cook other things for the rest of the family.  I hope it gets easier, because I crave everything in site. LOL  I am just glad that I do not act on it.
