Topic: xp: NSV at the airport of all places
So, I had to return home from overseas for my grandfathers funeral this past week. Well, on my way back to Germany, I almost missed my flight, because I wasn't paying attention (I thought I had the later of the two morning flights into frankfurt..turns out I didn't). Well, I had to run about 3/4 of a mile to the gate (with a small train ride in between). But, I made it. Let's just say before surgery I could have NEVER made that flight!! I felt stupid walking into the plane, but I was able to! I had to share!

I also got my surgery done on January 5th.  The first week I lost 23 lbs.  The second week I lost 5 lbs.  Since then (and I'm already 6 weeks out) I've only lost 1 lb.  I am so frustrated!!!  I'm trying to only weigh myself once a week.  Sometimes I feel like this won't work for me.

Topic: Xposted... what a differences a month makes....
A month ago today, right now I was heading to the OR for my RNY revision from a band to a bypass. Revision patients are natoriously slow loosers right????? Well in a month I've lost more pounds than I ever did with my band. I am down 34 pounds as of this morning. That's the weight of my youngest, disabled son. And I complain he's heavy when I pick him up.

I have a 3 week updated photo of my facial changes in my profile. Not sure how to do them here. Will do my one month photos later today.... probably post them tomorrow.

I went from always being hungry, to having to set clocks to remind myself to eat. I do not crave chocolate, or candy. I do crave eggs. Which I can have one a day. So that's a good thing.

My clothes are all getting baggy. Time to start trying on different clothing sizes.

I went into surgery at 260 (by my home scale), and today by my 226... big differenes I think.

You can decide either way. But I would follow how your surgeon does it. Is he going from your surgery weight or the weight he signed you in at? Liz

Thank you, this is very helpful!

Do you know how we count this - is it TOTAL weight loss, or do you ignore the pre-op loss and start with the immediate pre-op weight and only count what's lost since surgery?  It makes a pretty big difference for me - depending on how I calculate it, I've lost either 29% or 39% of my excess weight. Either way I'm happy (5 weeks post-op), but I'm kind of curious because it seems that this would be a good way to gauge my progress as I go.

I am now at a minimum of 50g of protein. I am still struggling with the fluid intake, but working on it. Lisa- thanks for the tip on that oatmeal.

How close are you coming to eating all of your protein?  By 2 weeks out, I was down to one shake/day, then by 3.5 weeks I stopped them altogether because I was up to the full 3 oz protein 3x/day (around 60g) that my doctor wanted.

When I did drink them, I found that the Nectar protein drinks were my favorite.  Fuzzy Naval, Carribean Cooker, and Roadside Lemonade (mixed with raspberry lemonade crystal light) were great!  You can order samples, and get a single-serve packet of each flavor.  Use them to decide which to buy, or just keep using sample packs so you don't get sick of one flavor.

I had 11 days when I lost nothing, though, starting 12 days post-op.  I was told by a lot of people that they had experienced something similar, and that a stall at around that point is common.  Your body just needs to catch up a little.  I'm now 5 weeks out, and I've lost around 30 lbs since surgery... the other 20 lbs in my ticker was pre-op.  I'm happy with my progress now, but I was definitely freaking out for those 11 days!
