I am not a dietition, but I would say that your liquid diet should include the protein powder shakes mixed with clear liquid.  I spoke to a dietition today and she suggested mixing the unjury protein powder with a clear liquid such as rasberry surgar free lemonade.  This would be mixed with the Strawberry Sorbet flavor Unjury Protein Shake.

The thought it sounded weird  but she swore it was terrific.  Good luck and take care to get your nutrients during this liquid diet phase and make sure to discuss with your doctor!

I'm soo happy for you :)

Congratulations!!!..

don't worry everything will be ok.. my gastric bypass was my first and only surgery and I was super nervous about it, but everything went smooth.. just say a prayer, do your pre-op diet (do you have to do 2 weeks?) and you will see everything will be just fine.. you will be at your goal weight in no time.. :)

Well I got a call just about an hour ago to schedule my surgery.
My offical surgery date is January 18th 2010 - my 2nd birthday.
I can't wait.  Im so excited but so nervous at the same time.
This is my first surgery and really my first time admitted to a hospital, Im just not sure what to expect!

Topic: Returning to Work
Another question.

I work in an office.  I sit on my butt alllllllll day.  I plan to return to work one week post-op.  When I told the nurse this, she laughed and said I won't be back at work that soon.

How long are you taking off work?

Thanks!

Topic: Protein Shakes: For Everyone?
Hi!

I hear about protein shakes all over the boards, but the info from my surgeon says nothing about them.

Do some surgeons recommend them?

Maybe this is a silly question, and I feel out of the loop on it... but I don't want to buy them if I don't need them... and I don't want to NOT buy them and then need them!

And...

Where do you buy your shakes, and which ones are the nummiest?

Thanks!!

Topic: Self Awareness?
As I'm preparing my kitchen for my liquid diet and for my portion controled meals, I am also preparing my mind for the upcoming journey begining on January 7th.

I have been doing some soul searching for the answer to this question:  "Why did I feel the need to eat so much for so long"??

It's not an easy question to answer. Just like any other addicition...food was my crunch for something.  I intend to find out what it is.  If I don't, I feel I will only fail in the long run.

If any of you have asked yourself this question and actually found an answer, I would love to hear from you!

In the meantime, I will start this journey with very good intention of changing my life around for the better.  Happy New Year Everyone and Good Luck with your Journey!  Donna
