Thanks Renee,
I do have lactose probelms right now too.  I don't think it will change after the surgery either.  Where do you find the 4Ever Fit Fruit or Isopure?  Do you have to order them online? Thanks for the information.  I did pick up some Centrum chewables today, just to get me through, I have my diet that I start on Monday.  So trying to pick things up to get me through the first week of surgery that is in 3 weeks.  Thanks for the help!
No problem!
www.vitalady.com, www.gnc.com, www.luckyvitamin.com are online sites that have the 4Ever Fit. I bought mine from eBay, but plan to get more from Vitalady.

If you have a Gold Card (and I think there's a special now for the holiday) GNC.com or in-store you can save big! They have both 4Ever Fit and Isopure Plus.

CVS.com sells Isopure Plus online, but not in-store. Ohh and www.amazon.com sells it too. They also have the Isopure RTD Zero Carb. I have read that many people swear by them. I haven't tried them, but there are more flavor options available.

I hope this helps.

Our dates are approaching quickly!

Different doctors have different requirements.  I am still looking around.  If I find something I will you know. They will all work at the end, good luck!

So has anyone found any good protein shakes or vitamins to take.  I am lookin online and there are some many of them. I am sure what is a good deal or is there something better over the counter that I can get?

All I need right now is a protein shake (60 mg per day), and a good multi vitamin with at least 1,000 ICU (I have to get in 2,000 ICU a day) of Vit D per my doctor.

Protein shakes really depend on your taste preferences. I prefer fruity flavored shakes, such as Syntrax Nectars and 4Ever Fit Fruit the Blast flavors. I also have Isopure Plus. My tummy has lactose issues now, so I am anticipating this continuing post-op.

I purchased a bunch of protein samples to try after surgery just in case my tastes change.  But I have tried a sample or two and I'm quite pleased thus far.

For vitamins, I have been getting most of mine from CVS and Walgreens. They usually have BOGO Free or 50% off.

I also use www.luckyvitamin.com for samples, vitamins, blender ball cups, and whatever else I can't find.

HTH,

Renee

So my surgery date is Jan. 22.... And I am not a very good planner (not in my DNA)   So I am wondering what if anything you guys have done to prepare for life after surgery.  Have you looked into vitamins stocked up on protein and liquids for the first weeks at home?  Or have you, like me just thought about things you should be doing :)
I'll be honest, I started preparing for post-op life months before I even had a date!

I started buying protein samples, liquid vitamins, and other vitamins to stock up.

I have milk/lactose issues as a pre-op so I've been collecting protein that is fruit based or lactose free. So far so good.

Plus, I like catching good deals.

I have to endure a 3 week liquid diet after surgery, so having options at home was my goal.

I also stocked up on Powerade Zero, bottled water, and sugar free (splenda sweetened) drink packs.

I constantly scour eBay, online drug stores, gnc.com, and amazon.com to find the best deals and affordable shipping prices.

I believe I'm ready.

But then, I have 14 more days to go too! Plenty of time to gather more liquid!

My sister, Tremory40, had her VSG done by Dr. Alvarez in Feb of 2009.  She is also an RN.  She said that the care was awesome and she would recommend he and his staff to anyone.  Coinsidentally, I am having my surgery for VSG on 1/26/10 in BAton Rouge due to insurance coverage.  You will do great.  My sister has.

Good Luck
