I am ready.  I'm having the VSG on Jan 18th.  They had me scheduled for Dec 1st, but with work I had to have it changed.  My insurance company had me approved for the month of December.  When we called on Thursday they said that they weren't showing me a new date on there system.  I have to call them on Monday to make sure everything is a go again.  I also start my liquid diet on Monday.  Best wishes to you.  Keep me updated.

My surgery date is Jan. 11th!! I'm excited and scared!! My husband won't be able to be there with me due to work-ups for his deployment My friend is flying into town to be with me, but I'm still SOOOOO nervous!!

So...is everyone excited about starting this year off right?!?

Topic: RE: JAN 4TH, 3 MORE DAYS!
My surgery is exactly the same time as you and I have to be there at 5:30am.  I'll be thinking good thoughts for you while I'm waiting to go into surgery.  If you do the same, I think it will be comforting to us knowing someone else is going through the same thing at the same time!

I am sloshing my way through the liquid diet.  My husband says he doesn't know how anyone can live on sugar free jello for a week.  I keep reminding him I am also drinking protein supplements but it doesn't sink in.  Anyway, today is the last day of protein supplements as tomorrow I can have only clear liquids and then nothing after midnight....yikes!

This last month seems like it has gone by so fast!

Where will you be having your surgery in NC?  My dad lives there.

Topic: RE: Jan 8th Surgery Date! I am so nervous....
Hi there! I had surgery 6 days ago and wanted to respond to your fears:
- there are so many flavor choices when it comes to the protein shakes, that you should cross this worry off your list. You won't feel like eating anything, really, so it will simply be a chore every day at least immediately after surgery
-I had never had surgery of any kind before, so this was my first experience with anesthesia. It took me about 12 hours to fully recover from it, but I was in no pain and the nurses were by my side the entire time.
-I'm sure they'll put the boots on your legs to prevent blood clots. My boots stayed on until the day I was discharged. It was like a constant leg massage :)

I'm certainly going to pray that all goes well as I'm sure it will! You're doing the right thing and that is truly admirable! :)

I was perfectly healthy aside from being fat, too. I had surgery Monday and aside from a little trauma to my tongue from the breathing tubes, it was a breeze! As long as you trust in your surgeon, it will be the same for you! Good luck girl!

Trust me, you are not alone in the nerves dept.  I got real nervous last night, and couldn't shake that feeling. But now I have that nervous excitement. I know we all are going to be fine.  Just take a couple of deep breathes and release.  You all will be fine.

My goal is to get my health and my house in order, to finish my degree, and to become debt free in 2010.  I'm sure I'll have more as the days go by but these are the main ones for now.

Know everything that is to be will be (I have some nerve..lol) Seriously, call them on Monday Morning and let them know your concerns and explain u do not need this added stress. BUT I had my pre-op visit with Dr. on Dec. 17th and met with the Anesthesiologist on Dec. 31st and had all my pre-op blood work done, My surgery is on Monday morning and only thing they will do is take my urine to make sure I am not pregnant and I am not.
