Hi all!  My RNY is scheduled for 1/19 -- can't wait!  So ready to do this :-)

Several of you have mentioned being on liquids/protein shakes for a week or more before surgery.  My surgeon doesn't do this; I think it's liquid only with some nasty "clean out your system" medication the day before surgery.  Just wondering what the benefit and purpose is of the long-term liquid diet before surgery?  How long have you been advised to do liquid protein only?

wow, great for you!  I am day two of my protein and doing better than day one for sure.  I am so glad I am off work for a few days to get use to all of this, and to make sure that I am not too moody.  I found that I need to eat all of my 1000 calories in order to feel okay.

I'm having RNY on 1/11 too.  I'm not nervous anymore.  It's in God's hands. I am killing myself everyday I am fat... and it kills me not to be able to play with my daughter like I should be able to.  All the risks disappear when I think of the life I will gain after surgery.  We will BOTH have a good surgery & recovery.  Good luck Oneflesh5.!

Today is day 6 of my clear liquid only & protein shake diet.  I had a rough few days, but it's getting better!  In these past 6 days, I have lost 24+ lbs!  How could I be upset with results like that.  It makes me more determined to succeed after my RNY on January 11th!!!  I'm excited to see what next week brings me.  Good luck to everyone struggling on the liquid only pre-op diets.  It gets easier!
