My surgery is also on the 7th and my pre-op testing isn't until the 5th and 6th (both days).  I have already had alot of testing done, but these are for admitting, meeting with surgeon and anesthesiologist, chest x-ray and gallbladder ultrasound. 

I'm sure everything is fine, but definitely call in the morning first thing.  I can't believe they haven't been more in touch with you.   Please update us when you do talk with someone!

I am scheduled for surgery this Thursday, the 7th and I started my liquid diet on the 1st.  I do protein shakes and liquids (water, decaf tea, SF popcicles, SF jello, Crystal Lite) for 4 days and then on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, I do just liquids (same as above minus the protein shakes).  From what I have read, it is a type of bowel prep, and also the more weight you can lose before the surgery, the better.  The liquid diet shrinks the size of your liver (which is in front of your stomach) making access during surgery easier, along with helping to lose weight quickly (I have lost about 7 lbs. and this is only my 3rd day).

I'm new to this board and wanted to take the time to introduce myself. I guess I'm not really new but, it's taken me a long time to get my surgery date. I am having the Vertical Sleeve on January 8. I didn't get much notice. I just found out this Tuesday. I'm super nervous and plagues with self doubt right now. The doctor told me to enjoy New Years and then eat only clear liquids going forward. I went to the movies last night and justified eating popcorn by saying I will never get the chance again. 

Well, just wanted to stop by and say hello.

Everything will be fine and feelings such as yours are normal.  I remember feeling the same way and now I am 2 1/2 months out and it is even hard to remember that I was feeling so fearful.  Good luck to you and good luck to all having surgery this week.  You will be on the losing side in no time at all.

WOW, only clear liquids tomorrow? I will continue my liquid until Midnight. I have to bath and wash with some stuff and b4 I go to hospital!
