OOOps! Missy, I guess I REALLY didn't understand what "soft diet" meant! I've been eating pasta, well toasted bread, ground turkey, etc. (it's soft! :) !) About the only things I haven't eaten are hard fruit/veggies, steak and of course sugar and junk food. I figure as long as my tummy says OK, it's OK! :)

Thanks Missy - I was already envisioning popped staples and gut oozing! :) :) Really, I thought, "I really screwed up!" cause I did have a little pain that evening. Good to hear it's not that big of a deal - maybe I'll just continuting picking him up - he is the joy of my life! thanks again!

I started on puree and now am on mechanical soft foods. so breakfast is egg with cheese mini banana. lunch is tuna and light miracle whip. dinner is fish with a small side of veg or yogurt etc.
I had infection so with antibiotic I am trying to add yogurt but found shrimp good too. When my father was in the hospital my choices were limited so I had more cottage cheese and yogurt, string cheese and hard boiled eggs. I can manage about 1/2 cup per meal. just tried On-Cor turkey in gravy... gross.... yuk... but will find a back up. Water volume is the hardest to keep up.. I have two fortified milks each day so 24 protein there helps. doc increased my protein requirement to 75 g per day but the 64 oz of water was hard enough. now he wants 80..

I hear ya Krizzti! I wanted soft cheese preztels! That was my big thing before the surgery! I love them, and could eat them all day! Once I started to vary my diet it got better (with the ok of the doc, of course), and found some of my other favorite foods I liked. I love tunia, and crab meat so that is what I have been eating and pretending it soft cheese preztels. It is working a little :) Good luck!

Mini- I just started soft foods. She told me the best way to describe it is the foods I can't have. I can't have pasta, rice, bread, hard vegetables, meats (chicken, pork, steak mostly), and salads. So I have been exploring my new foods! I am loving it!!! I had Wendy's chili over the weekend. A small cup (only .99) last me four or five meals! It was so good! Lets see I had lunch meat yesterday for lunch, and then made tunia salad (maynoses, mustard, tunia, and pickle ralish) for dinner and lunch today. I bought so new soups to try too. Oh, I also have had crap chucks that was really good too (good protein and vitamins). So far my pouch has been really good. I have had a couple times when I have not chewed my food all the way and it gets stuck, that is a little uncomfertable, and I don't like it, but it passes with in a couple of minutes.
The water for me is the hardest to get down. I was never a big water drinker before, so it is even harder now. I get about 20-30 oz in a day. The is the part I am working on the most but at least I know that. I will work on it more. Have you guys started your vitamins yet? The nurse just gave me mine on Monday to start. It is not to bad.

I am just four weeks out. I have a son that is a year and a half old, and weights about 24 lbs. My doc told me 3 weeks with the lifting, and I was close. My stomach still hurts every now and then after picking him up but it gets better every day. I don't think you did any damage just getting use to pick him up after yours muscles were strenched. Don't worry it will be ok.
Topic: RE: Plateau? Already? Noooooo!
Try a plateau for 3-4 weeks! Im starting to go crazy. It's hard this early in the game to hit a dead spot and be happy you even did the dam surgery. Can't eat anything, busting butt like crazy @ gym feeling soar like my legs are going to pop out of socket. and all just to see that same number of 222.0 on the scale. Oh well. @ least I get to see those hot guys at the gym. LOL
